| My high stats kid was sent a merit package but was not admitted (true story). They wanted him to show interest with weekly waitlist check-ins. Hard pass. |
Pitt. Loved it. Offered 20K in merit. 4.93W, 4.0 UW, 1560, NMSF (attending Pitt) |
| Also just FYI, CWRU with merit is still likely to be significantly more expensive than state flagship with no merit. |
Pls explain this. Did they get a pre-read for something? How did you get a merit offer but not admission? |
No. Applied EA and was deferred and then waitlisted on RD. Little/no demonstrated interest. After waitlist came a merit package and then complicated instructions to stay on the waitlist that weekly check-ins and maybe more essays (can't remember). I assume they were using the WL process to gauge demonstrated interest and increase yield. |
DP. I posted yesterday with similar situation but not WL. Applied EA, deferred, accepted RD with $30k merit. |
NP- This is what my kid kid. Accepted EA with merit of about 34k per year and we didn't even apply for financial aid. 3.8 unweighted gpa from strong private and 34 act. We also opened every email- they send a lot. Case doesn't have any supplemental essays so easy to apply vs other schools with multiple essays. My kid chose another school but I think Case Western is great. And I appreciated the merit award. |
Is this a way to show demonstrated interest, by opened the emails so that they knew you did? |
| Is NMSF required for Case Western merit scholarship? What about Rochester? I know USC requires NMSF for merit scholarship consideration. Thanks. |
