It's not $50k a year. |
Shocking, I know. Rich kids want to continue to be rich. |
Of course it is, that's why Gonzaga has their biggest class in over 200 years and why they didn't go to the waitlist. People chose Gonzaga over Prep or St. Alban's precisely because it was is cheap. It flows downhill. I know kids who chose O'Connell over Gonzaga because it's cheaper as well. Times are tough. |
Right. That's hardly the case. |
I wouldn't read much into it. For what it's worth, many colleges don't even have you declare your major until sophomore year, so who knows what they'll be interested in doing a year from now? I changed my major like ten times. |
You have to be kidding. |
I love the Trading Places reference. |
These seem like very easy questions you could ask admissions. Instead you choose to start a DCUM thread on the college decision insta and somehow are wondering how that ties into service as an adult? You are twisting yourself into knots and I am not exactly sure over what. Or you are just some troll looking to bash Gonzaga over funny insta posts about teen boys. Wow. |
Agree. How about just asking: how would people say the service mission of the school plays out for young men after they leave the school or later in life? |
(1) this isn't true, and (2) non-diverse country club kids are more likely to go into things like film studies and English because they have, you know, mom and dad's money to fall back on. |
The way to game the system is to indicate interest in a niche humanities major such as anthropology, gender studies, or East Asian studies. It will help you stand out and also wash away some of the "privilege" stench from the application. Once you're in the college, just switch your major to what you really want to study. |

Well, OP, clutching your pearls, my son graduated last year. He chose a Jesuit college BECAUSE of the values instilled by Gonzaga. He attends mass on his own at school. He was involved in Campus Ministry at Gonzaga and his Kairos experience was transformative for him. My son is a marketing major with a Spanish minor. He writes for the school newspaper- another thing he did at Gonzaga. We aren’t a country club family. We actually were the only family from our zip code at Gonzaga.
So, ignore the Instagram. It’s tongue in cheek. |

+1 An oldie but a goodie. Someone’s parents raised ‘em right. |
| Gonzaga is the best. Send your son there. You won’t regret it. |
