| My kid said a prayer and blessed each school that didn't match, including all the ones he declined. |
Weirdo |
| It’s healthy to normalize rejection to help kids learn how to cope with the feeling. I saw a school out in CA hand out rejection donuts. Kids would flash their phone screen showing their rejection letter and get a free donut. Onwards and upwards! |
Liars like you should be ashamed. How dare you try to smear the name of UVA with your made-up fairytale delusions. Grow up. |
| What is a @summary rejection”? What does it mean? |
Wow, god forbid kids have a sense of humor these days
|
Did you just learn the phrase 'summary rejections'? I have never seen it used on this board and now it's like every other post. |
+1 When I was in a college, senior year, we had a wall of our dorm where people would post their rejection letters from various employers, grad school etc. often with funny commentary on the form letters. It makes you feel less down to know that others are going through the same thing. |
| Why is this a news? Oh wait it's usa today. |

| I heard this a long time ago and it stuck with me: when you get disappointing news about a job interview, rejection of any kind, something bad happens at work... allow yourself to really sit in the sadness and disappointment of it all for 5 minutes. If there is a positive lesson to learn and pocket for future action, articulate it clearly and absorb it. Then move on. This cake thing sounds more like wallowing and dwelling which is not healthy. Do not give a school that didn't want you any thought or attention. It's time to focus on the school that did really want you and love that school. |
This is why no one likes your generation. |
| Why is everything a big production these days? |
Learning to cope with adversity, being thankful for acceptances you have and moving on works too. |
This poster is right but young people don’t want to hear it. The pull of conformity, consumerism and online perfection is too strong. They even have to show how cool they are about being rejected. |
