But I'd be livid if my kid posted that on social media. Yes even if my kid was a legal adult at the time. It's not a good look.

Even better, hang out with friends and bake a cake to celebrate all the schools that ACCEPTED you - and don't make stupid social media videos to self-congratulate.
And even better than THAT? Stop watching stupid videos on social media that make you feel bad, like a loser, or a failure. Simple - don't watch.
Getting rejected by Yale is not a failure. Getting accepted by "fill in the blank school" is a success.

Wow, god forbid kids have a sense of humor these days

Very unfortunate for those unfortunate people who receive summary rejections, for there is no appeals process. Very sad for those unfortunate people. ;(

Did you just learn the phrase 'summary rejections'? I have never seen it used on this board and now it's like every other post.

+1 When I was in a college, senior year, we had a wall of our dorm where people would post their rejection letters from various employers, grad school etc. often with funny commentary on the form letters. It makes you feel less down to know that others are going through the same thing.

Why is this a news? Oh wait it's usa today.

I heard this a long time ago and it stuck with me: when you get disappointing news about a job interview, rejection of any kind, something bad happens at work... allow yourself to really sit in the sadness and disappointment of it all for 5 minutes. If there is a positive lesson to learn and pocket for future action, articulate it clearly and absorb it. Then move on. This cake thing sounds more like wallowing and dwelling which is not healthy. Do not give a school that didn't want you any thought or attention. It's time to focus on the school that did really want you and love that school.

Learning to cope with adversity, being thankful for acceptances you have and moving on works too.

This poster is right but young people don’t want to hear it. The pull of conformity, consumerism and online perfection is too strong. They even have to show how cool they are about being rejected.

It's all for the likes. This generation is screwed. They're going to regret making everything a social media post at some point.

DP. That's just the mentally unwell UVA booster/troll who shows up all over this forum to lecture others. It's simultaneously hilarious and painfully pathetic.

I had to read it 3 times. English doesn't appear to be poster's first language.

Sympathetic magic. They probably read "We Have Always Lived in the Castle" for class in high school (or saw the recent movie).
