The test score profile and pct test optional are comparable to Ivies - so “well below” doesn’t make sense esp when they tend to take more kids ED Bottom line is - if you’re not an athlete or otherwise hooked - you can’t get in without top academic stats, ED or otherwise. And frankly it’s hard to get in even with top academic stats, esp RD where they are overwhelmed with applications |
Posted above about DD WL with 4.0/4.7/1530. she didn't demonstrate interest other than attending AO visit at her school and sending them a TY note. she did send optional video (glimpse) but didn't interview. was there an option to sign up for interview or was this by invite only? maybe she missed that opportunity to show interest there. |
Lol. UChicago is the school known for yield protection. |

It's my understanding that they do not track demonstrated interest at WashU. My daughter did sign up for a "Chat with a Bear" when we went to visit the campus and took the tour. It was supposedly non-evaluative. I don't believe your DD missed out any formal interview. We are thrilled that our DD was admitted ED2, but know that it was a lottery situation with such a low acceptance rate. Like others who have been admitted, she had super high stats, reported her SAT scores, and had exceptional ECs - but still knew it wasn't a guarantee!
Congrats to all who were admitted!! |
It would be a violation of the constitution to restrict interstate travel for women of child bearing age. Please stay in reality. |

I think my kid is awesome and so do some other great schools, just because Wash U put him on the wait list doesn't mean he's not awesome and doesn't mean they are yield protecting.
There are only so many seats on that train. My advice is to buy a lot of train tickets. So far, 3 have worked out, 1 didn't and 1 he's on standby. Congrats to everyone who was admitted! |
Love this metaphor. And good luck to your kid! |
I think your kid is awesome too! |
Awe! I have found the two nicest people on DCUM! |
DD off waitlist early last year. Chose a different school. Don’t give up hope. She had forgotten to withdraw. |
While your post was well meaning…that was really crappy of your kid to “forget.” If she was dealing with schools of that ranking, she knew. |
Yup, this. |

IN!
4.0 unweighted, 35 ACT, ROTC scholarship. Very excited! |
I'm pretty paranoid myself, but St. Louis is a blue city, and Illinois is blue. |
She applied to 21 schools and withdrew from everything once she decided where to go. Wasn’t even particularly interested in Wash U. So f off |
