If you think Christianity is a fairy tale, then where did the Bible come from?

It helped that a Christian ruler was in charge at the time.

Literally yes. Men wrote the bible. You aren’t trying to say that god wrote this novel?

I was raised in an interfaith family myself and accepting there are different beliefs and you can decide what you believe for yourself, you accept not everyone is going to agree, and you just move on.

It just makes me think they’re dumber than a bag of rocks.

OP, where did YOU think the Bible came from and where did you receive your religious education?

My kids learned about the history of the texts in high school, and I studies it a but in college, but there are free open source courses on line if you are interested. If you are into linguistics you may particularly enjoy the theory of the unnamed J, E, D, and P sources of the Pentateuch.

That's why they are still a believer.

DCUM consistently meets expectations on the quality of its religious insight. Basically the Michael Scott level of inquiry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbeibqTqco8

Clearly OP’s special text is the real gospel. All those other religions are just made up.

The answer is, I just don’t care. I don’t think the Bible is really worth thinking about, to be honest.

I agree. I never think about it and I was raised in the church. Not relevant to how I live. I'm an honest good person. One of the most hateful, homophobic and racist person I know goes to church ever Sunday. She also love to quote the scripture.

I was raised in "the church" - the Catholic Church to be specific and we were aware that we read 2 Bible passages every week at Sunday Mass - the Gospel and the Epistle. Other than that, we didn't study the Bible much and focused instead on catechism.

OP, do you actually know by whom and when the bible was written?

Don't give Trump any ideas. Next thing we know he'll be restarting the calendar.
