My kid applied Honors, but hasn't heard a peep. Is that what you mean by Honors still pending?

Yeah. I thought the HC results were also coming out in January for EA....

I meant my kid applied Honors, but hasn't heard a decision at all. That can't be good? FCPS, 4.06, 1320, decent ECs.

Interesting because I'm looking at Gonzaga scattergram and last year everyone with 3.2 and over got in, regardless of test scores (scores ranged from 1030-1500 but I'm not going to check who was test optional bc there are a ton of kids who applied), So a 3.6 with 34 GPA would absolutely be a slam dunk

What high school? Sorry about that. This process is just the worst

Highly ranked Virginia public high school in Central Virginia. Thanks for the kind words. DD is okay with it as it wasn't her first choice.

Does VA have colleges for average kids anymore? Or decent safeties? There seems to be a big drop off between the top 4 schools and the rest.

OP here. Very surprised, and helpful to hear of other deferral stats. We are in at Pitt and some other good places so not too worried.

Yes, we were also surprised[i], as mentioned above, my DS was deferred, and he had wrongfully deemed JMU to be a safety.

As mentioned, he's in at Penn State, but the Out-of-State cost there is steep...

There are other options as well, Marquette, South Carolina, Dayton, and some others...

However, this causes doubt about what the result might be for VT, as we're expecting a straight up rejection from UVA.

It just sucks that now we have to wait until April to see all the options...

That'll be a "no" for VT.

My DC also got in and probably won't be attending, considering JMU being a safety for them. Looking at others who are accepted/rejected, is JMU competing with UVA/WM/VT these days for similar stat students? I thought they are for mid-range kids - not putting anyone down. Or do majority of students these days have inflated grades and mid-range SAT score that they don't submit?

Are you sure? I don't think they sent an email. Mine just knew to check the portal b/c lunch was abuzz with results.

Most schools send an email saying there has been an update to their application.

No they don't. Kids just know when to go look at their portal.
