Why do this? Blocking lane at light

Anonymous wrote:OP, you are right that this is annoying and she should have gone straight. However, I doubt that any of the people ahead of you who just changed lanes are still stewing about this. When you get angry at something like this it stays with you longer. Start honking and you get angrier and work yourself up.

I am curious if the horn honking made her move/ go straight? I used to be a prolific horn honker for this type of thing and it rarely helped- the only times I find horn honking to change behaviors is when the person doesn't actually know that she is doing something wrong- eg about to merge into her blind spot; about to turn the wrong way down a one way street without seeing the signs. Self centered people like this woman are not going to change their ways because someone five cars back is honking. But the person next to you and any nearby pedestrians are going to hear it and be more annoyed

You're trying to reason with someone who is even more self-centered than the lane-blocker, and doesn't care about others. They're going to honk to express their feelings no matter what, and not think twice about throwing things, or getting their gun out, because they have no sense of proportion. I'm sure it was OP posting repeatedly on their own thread to try and drum up like-minded people's support. I can guarantee they've made some mistakes too, but they would never remember it or think badly about themselves for it. Different rules apply to them, but they're going to throw the rulebook at others and demand maximum punishment every time.

This is why I loathe people like OP. Self-righteousness of such magnitude is a sin. Lane-blocking, compared to OP's violent attitude, is more minor.

So, do a U-turn or go around the block. More to the point, this driver thinks they’re more important than everyone else. Which is quite common if you live in the DMV.

Most of us are the 'everyone else:' the horn honkers are the one who think they are more important.

She doesn't have to turn to accommodate you. You're not special. Just wait a minute. You'll be fine.

You are an imbecile. It's not about accommodating anything or anyone. You can't just stop in the middle of the damn road whenever you feel like and cause a massive traffic jam. F you.

Then they shouldn't be driving in a city.

If new drivers shouldn’t drive in a city, how do they become experienced city drivers?

Anonymous wrote:Absolutely infuriating. God, people are so stupid in America. Not only the driver you describe, but absolute imbeciles in this thread who defend this garbage. You think the crap out of them to shame. You do not hold up traffic for an entire cycle because you're trying to turn from a straight going lane.

The a hole is either trying to cut in front of the line because they don't want to wait at the end of the left turn lane. Or they're not familiar with the area (no excuse). If you aren't familiar with an area an miss a turn, it isn't that big of a deal. You keep driving and do a U turn or go around then block. Everyone has GPS these days, you'll get re-routed. You don't stop in the middle of the damn road.

Morons in this thread.

I feel so sorry for anyone that is this angry about such a minor inconvenience. Something is not right in your life.

The more you post the more I’m glad she blocked you. Hope it happens to you every day.

1,000,00% this. If you make a mistake, then YOU should bear the burden of that mistake. Don’t instead make everyone else pay for your mistake. That’s just basic courtesy.

I will honk the entire light.

You both sound deranged.

Honk and don’t stop. Who is an inconsiderate prick to the point they think they have justification for blocking an entire lane for a whole light cycle? Unreal. Pure selfish behavior that should be ostracized.

Something tells me there is a whole lot of sockpuppeting going on in this thread.

OP is not very clear. Did she obey a red arrow and waited for it to turn green? She was right you're wrong. You cannot turn if the arrow is red, even if the light is green going straight. And she doesn't have to go straight and do some dangerous maneuvers just to appease you. She was there first.

I hate bad drivers and never hesitate to give them clear & immediate feedback. Feel free to be a doormat.
