Sport Fair Meet Mobile?

But they didn't post the results. They did before finals.

They have not posted finals either. marlins has had issues at several locations with data and meet mobile.

Terrible at such an important meet.

Hopefully they will take the time to post finals tonight and fix the issues for tomorrow.

There is no updating at all and sessions are over. The data pushing has been terrible and nothing posted on the walls so swimmers don't know if they made finals.

This is nuts how and when will we know ?

Before meet mobile, people looked at the posted results. Meet mobile has been around since 2011 and as has been discussed many times, it is NOT an official source of results.

Of course we all hate it when results don’t go immediately to meet mobile, but it’s not like the officials have an obligation to post results to meet mobile. They have an obligation to post accurate results at the meet and then submit them to USA swimming for entry into the swims database. That’s it. No meet has to publish to meet mobile, and many meets are never completely published, and some are not published at all.

I took my kids to a meet in CT that was never uploaded to meet mobile, and on top of that, the scoreboard malfunctioned after the first event and remained blank for the entirety of the meet. We didn’t find out the times until the following week.

This is an ongoing issue. They need to post results and finals if they can't get their act together.

They are charging all kinds of $. Parents deserve results.

I assume you all realize that the ‘people’ you are vigorously slamming on this thread are all volunteers. Some of them have kids swimming, those are the kids you see swinging their legs in a chair when everyone else is gone waiting for their parents to finish so they can go home. Some of them haven’t had kids swimming for years but continue to volunteer which is the only way pvs is able to function. There are a ton of meets this weekend, with numerous meets begging for experienced table volunteers and not many available.

Anyway I would say for those of you who suggest these volunteers have never heard of the internet, or should just be able to grab a laptop and find a different internet connection at GMU (mid meet while doing all the other admin jobs) that you should really volunteer and become an official. But in general the officials are all really kind and pleasant, if you treat people irl like you do on here, then you will not fit in with the kind and pleasant official crowd.

You’d be wrong. Zero no shows for finals tonight. Plenty of first alternates hanging out just in case.

Swimmers deserve to know where they placed and their times (parents should cheer and support their swimmer). I do agree, that sucks that results are not posted timely.

In terms of what the meet mobile problem is, this is always a problem when you are swimming two pools with prelims and finals. The two pool computers and the finals computer need to be communicating with each other through a Ethernet connection in order to process results and finals scratches and get ready for finals. But that Ethernet connection overrides the WiFi connection. Meet mobile requires a WiFi connection. So in order to push to meet mobile you have to unplug the Ethernet connection. Doing that had some consequences and it means it doesn’t always come back up right. When making the choice between making sure results are getting to the scratch table and the meet is able to keep running vs disconnecting to go to meet mobile? This is not a hard choice. The meet must keep running. There are some ways around this problem, but the exact fix varies depending on the specific computer/ internet options etc.

So why is this only an issue when the Marlins run a meet? Seems to work fine at other meets with two courses 🤦‍♀️

It’s more a facility issue. Every meet at GMU has delayed or no mm results. Mako meets can’t even load heats until events are over. Marlins invite up at U-Md in Nov had none of these issues.

The coaches have the times and will tell swimmers their placement. Spectators don’t actually need to know.

It was the same problem at Swim and rock a couple weeks ago. It’s not a two pools problem, it’s a two pools with prelims and finals. But if you think you can fix it and do better, by all means sign up as an official.

Turkey Claus had zero problems with two pools, prelims, and finals at a university campus.

Yes, because the UMD setup is much better.
