ECNL moving to school year not calendar

I’m thinking it’s a courtesy by ECNL. ECNL will do it anyway but better to do as a ‘united’ group

Why do you keep posting this garbage.
We don’t know.

Us Soccer will have to make the decision.

First time poster here. I have been following this thread as my daughter is an August RL player so this will impact her. I keep reading that players will have a choice whether to play in their newly assigned agegroup or to 'play up' with their current team. My question is: do you think this will be a kid/family choice? Or do you think the clubs will just tell the kids you are dropping to this age group or you are staying with that age group?

ECNL clubs will set rosters to make the strongest teams possible. My daughter is ECNL, 2011 December/Bday 2011. Our ECNL director told me last night that she would play with the 2012 group next year.

Most likely would be up to the club to decide what they want to do

Any coaches on here that can guide me through how most clubs with pursue this?

1. Do you think clubs will keep rosters the same?

2. Do you think clubs will build the strongest possible teams?

How does a club approach this change?

I would imagine top clubs like SD Surf, SLSG, FC Stars, PDA will keep teams the same so that they can play other clubs older players?

I doubt anyone can answer that question. There will be tryouts and you will have a bunch of 4th quarter kids that are probably currently on 2nd teams that may be better than the top team kids a year younger.

I have a trapped G2010 and I reached out to several top 2011 coaches.

The 2011 coaches referred me to their 2010 coaches or their DOC. When I spoke with them on the phone they all offered a tryout assessment. The all also said that they don't know what will happen with BY v SY.

These are some of the top clubs in the nation. If they don't know what will happen with BY and aren't specifically looking for trapped players. The idiots that are saying SY is a lock aren't being honest.

First tryout is at 4:30 today. PST

Those clubs will build the strongest rosters possible so they can win.

Complete speculation here but I don't think a change from BY to SY is going to make clubs any more likely to promote players. They will be more likely to demote and bring in new players though.

So as always, promotion via finding a different club might be the better path. I don't think clubs will be able to get the biases out of their heads at tryouts that this kid is an A team player and this kid is a B team player, etc. Heck, many kids seem to get demoted late in the process so they can't tryout at other teams anyway.

But over the following year, it will become more obvious who belongs where and the loyal kids that got demoted or sent to the bench will be looking to bounce the following year.

Meaning I expect this to be a 2 year shuffle not a free for all at tryouts this year.

Just speculation.

Wow, that is interesting for sure.

As a follow up question, why are you looking at other clubs? Are you worried your kids is going to have to play down?

Are you worried that the 2011 team is not as good as others in the area?

I assume this means the tryout is with the 2010 team, not 2011 yet?

So now we have a poster that has reached out to top clubs in the country and even those clubs cannot confirm if we are going SY or BY.

Everything is fine.
