Colorado Shooter Bought 4 Guns, all since May

Can anyone see the problem? This guy went off the deep end and he legally bought four guns in 60-90 days, one of which was an AR-15. He got body armor, tear gas canisters, and more.

Yes, you have a right to own guns. Do we need to let people buy assault weapons? Do we need to let people arm up on impulse? It's too much.

Go buy a handgun, I'm fine with it. Everyone in the family can buy a hunting rifle, I'm fine with that. You want to give a collectible to DH for Christmas, I'm for it.

But come on.

Hunters need assault weapons to take down their prey. It's cheaper than wasting ammo at target practice. Body armor??? to protect themselves from each other when hunting I guess. I'm sure the NRA can justify the need

Would his AR-15 purchas have been prevented by the Assault Weapons Ban which was allowed to expire?

Wonder why only four.
Anonymous
Yeah. Because you need assault rifles and body armor to take down a deer. Please.

Yes, the AR-15 was banned. It resumed sales immediately after the ban ended.

the reason citizens should be allowed to have assault weapons is because the purposes of the right to bear arms is not to go hunting or shoot targets, but to protect yourself from tyranny if the govt ever turned into a despotism (see, III, George or al-Assad, Bashar). you are not going to do to well with a shotgun against Navy Seals. now is that far-fetched today? probably so. but it IS in the friggin Bill of Rights so somewhat of a big deal.

Yet, the Heller case, the defining Supreme Court ruling on the Second Amendment, allows for limitations on the type of weapons. And in fact it specifically mentions the M-16, which as any gun enthusiast knows is a variation of the M16. See pp. 54-55 of the majority opinion by Justice Scalia.

So basically the Supreme Court disagrees with your opinion.

Tim McVeigh of Oklahoma City fame and the quoted poster espouse the same paranoid concern of government tyranny.

What type of mind does it take to envision a highly trained military specialist like a "Seal" firing on US citizens? Even Mubarak's military refused to do so.

He also bought 6,000 rounds of ammo on line.
