Sure, Mitt Romney can have an apology...

I'm sure Team Obama will be happy to apologize to Mitt Romney observing that all isn't what it seems with ownership documents for Bain Capital.

Just as soon as:

Obama gets an apology for the birth certificate nonsense
John Kerry gets an apology for the Swift Boat lies
Bill Clinton gets an apology for being impeached for lying about sex.

I mean, all three men deserve more than just apologies for those one things.

But, all kidding aside, did Mitt overrule smarter comms people on his team today? Did he really think going on network news and whining that his record was being distorted would be seen as anything less than whining by the American people? Man needs a tougher skin.

Also, does this mean he concedes that Bain turned evil after he supposedly left? Because, it sure seems like he just threw his former colleagues under a bus.

If the recent past is any indication, they will accuse Obama of having run Bain Capital, too.

Governor Romney, I am truly sorry to have discovered that you appear to have lied about when you left Bain. I sincerely hope that when you make your tax returns public, they will show that the SEC filings were mistaken.

Hey, if Mitt wants to prove he didn't run Bain Capital after 1999, then turn over the minutes for review by MSNBC and WaPo. And then he can explain why he was listed on the public filings.

If he wants to be clear of the charge that he has profited from offshore, untaxed accounts, then he can authorize his accountant to release his tax returns for review by Arianna Huffington and Rachel Maddow.

After all, this is the standard of disclosure that you Republicans have defined for Presidents. Open the kimono (and slooowly) or you are guilty.

Come to think of it, we should make him renounce his Church for its history of racism and polygamy. And provide proof that he is not a Muslim born in Kenya. It could be true.

1. birth certificate crap was nonsense, agreed.
2. Swift Boat stuff was true. Kerry made a ton of enemies testifying against his vets, and his whole tour of duty was to pad his resume. no apology deserved.
3. lying under oath is not a big deal? seriously? i don't care if it is about romper room. when you raise your right hand and swear to tell the truth you need to, regardless of the reason, or our very foundation of laws and contracts is pretty much worthless. I HATE IT when people defend Roger Clemens or Barry Bonds on perjury issues - yeah, its just baseball (or just sex, or just watergate, or just irancontra, etc.), but you are UNDER FUCKING OATH, you HAVE TO TELL THE TRUTH. trust me, I wish Clinton could have served 5 terms - the combination of him as prez and Newt in congress was by far the best for our country in the post-wwII era, love him to death, but how can you think lying under oath is ok?
4. hate Romney, lightweight, but the Obama attack was a low blow. this election is going to be really, really dirty. Obama cannot run on his record bc the economy sucks, so the entire campaign will be trades of personal attacks.

How is it a low blow for Romney? Was Bain Capital SO bad that his association with it is a liability? And why was he listed as CEO if he wasn't? Surely someone else was, right? Then who?

No, that would be Bush.

Those comments didn't come out of the Romney camp. The Bain Capital attacks did come from the Obama camp. You are comparing apples to oranges.

No a lot of the claims in Swift Boat were completely untrue. They used accounts from people who later admitted they weren't present for events where they gave testimony. Not cool. Anyway the proof of swift boat is that conservatives all over are claiming that Romney is being swift boated. So if swift boat was all true, what do they have to complain about?

Romney wants us to vote for him because he has executive experience -- his time at bain. How is holding Romney accountable for what Bain did a "personal attack"?

No, not really. Because the same people who back the birth certificate nonsense (Trump, Kochs) are in Romney's camp. And the same guy who underwrote Swift Boat Veterans for Truth is now bankrolling Team Romney.

It's the same people.

This is exactly correct. And Romney has repeatedly refused to speak against any kind of inappropriate behavior in his camp, so it's on him now.

Here is Romney, refusing to condemn birther comments by Trump.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/05/28/romney-doesnt-back-away-from-birther-trump/

I think this key quote explains EXACTLY how Romney plays this:

“You know, I don't agree with all the people who support me and my guess is they don't all agree with everything I believe in,” Romney said. “But I need to get 50.1% or more and I'm appreciative to have the help of a lot of good people.”

I don't know how to say it any clearer. He disagrees with these crazies. But he wants their votes, and he likes that they are helping him.

I'm still awaiting for an apology from George W. Bush for how far down he dragged this country.

I'd like one from Reagan, too. But, you know, he's dead and shit. But he's the one that started the trajectory of putting our country in the crapper.
