Best Skincare Procedure for 40 plus

Anonymous
Not interested in injections, yet. I'm 46, very few fine lines and no wrinkles but I am concerned as I know it's inevitable.
I have dry skin.

thoughts on products and procedures such as IPL, Microderm etc. that will increase coligen (sp?) production on radiance in my skin.

TIA

I did micrdermabrasion through a sap and didn't see much of a difference. I did learn through research that dermatologists do micrdermabrasin at a medical strength which is a lot more effective.

I've also done Botox for fine lines and fillers to fill in a very deep smile line. I'm so, so happy with my results!!! I've had a lot of compliments yet no one knows what I did.

If youre looking for a good plastic surgeon I highly recommend Dr. Masan Bedri at Virginia Hospital Center

Finally some feedback, thanks!

how does IPL differ from microderm? Glad the PP mentioned doing it with a derm and not a spa due to the medical grade product difference.

for the botox gal, how often do you revisit for more botox and fillers?

how about your daily skincare? do you use drugstore or department store? I'm from the drugstore camp, feel that the products are just as good for 1/2 the price.

tia!

I did a series of microdermabrasion at my derm's office and the results weren't any different than the results using the Neutrogena microdermabrasion tool. It made my skin smoother for a while, but there really weren't any visible results and the results weren't long-lasting. Not worth the money IMO.

I do Dysport (same as Botox, but it lasts longer on me) for my )( lines. I started out needing it every 4 months, but now I can go 6 months between injections.

I've heard great things about Fraxel and will probably do that when the time comes, but I don't think I need it now.

As for skin care, I use Neutrogena facial wash. In the morning I use MD Forte Facial Lotion III (I started using I and worked up), which I originally bought from the derm and now order online. It's a high-grade gycolic acid. I really feel like it's one of the best skin care products out there and I've tried just about all of them. On top of the MD Forte, I use a daily sunscreen (currently using Glytone but I also sometimes use Neutrogena). In the pm, I use Retin-A, another product I'm a huge fan of. It took me months to work up to being able to tolerate it daily, but it's really improved my skin. I usually put a Vanicreme moisturizer over the Retin-A. My skin is smoother and clearer than it's been in years and I really think it's from the gycolic acid (which exfoliates) and the Retin-A (which promotes the formation of new skin cells).
