I actually don't know anyone who keeps gasoline in dc. Anyone w/ enough yard to require a power mower uses a landscaper.

Somebody earlier suggested that the family may have had gasoline because the boy had a go-kart.

He doesn't have one at the house. He rides them at a track at another location.

To everyone who is assuming it was random. Google his mother's name. She is the owner and/or project manager of several construction, contracting and renovation companies in the Rockville area. There could easily be bad blood between the suspect (and his family) if they had done business with AIW. Or, perhaps they were working on the Chantilly project and knew about the cash. Or maybe he had worked for his mother, worked tangentially with the victim's company and knew him to deal in cash. In any case, don't be so quick to assume it was random.

Shouldn't he be on the FBI top ten now? Maybe bump other local shit Brad Bishop who is likely long dead.

What I don't get AT ALL-
How did this guy get the very smart, martial arts expert SS tied up in a chair?
I just can't see that happening.

A gun? An accomplice? By threatening his child? Police have said from the beginning there was more than one.

Why not? Mr. S was a car guy it seems. Prob would be.

Yes, but the I bet the suspect can't drive a 5 speed. Just speculation....

Why not? It's not a rich-people skill, and he is in his 30s.

This.

They probably work in the construction business so they can steal equipment and tools. They don't really work. this is just a way to get victims.

If you came in the front door of your own home and someone put a knife to your throat and threatened your child's life,I doubt you'd be busting out your crane kicks.

Okay genius, please explain why it makes more sense to have Brad Bishop on there for a very similar crime committed 30 years ago. This guy is actively on the run now and the added exposure could be helpful.

This. If two people come into your house and are holding your spouse and/or child hostage and say if you don't sit down and shut up they'll kill them...you're going to comply real fast. This isn't really like the movies where the hero can do some awesome moves and save the day. The type of criminals who execute a plan like this have no problem following through on what they threaten in order to get you to comply.

Just so everyone is aware, I am not going to put up with gloating about the race of the suspect.

OK, so I made this point before, but to reiterate. There is random, as in they knocked on random doors in a wealthy neighborhood and managed to get into this one. But, the opposite of random is not "personal" as in fueled by "bad blood" or vendetta. Saying there is a connection because someone may have worked in the same business or even on a job at Mr. S's business or house and therefore might have known that Mr. S could get cash or knew the house is a lot different from saying that this was a revenge crime and the torture was "personal."
