| it didn't leave when i opened the door, just inched closer to the house. it's been there for 2-3 hours now. not obviously hurt and it is moving it's head but i'm not sure if it can fly/walk. what should i do? |
| Maybe it has a long flight planned for tomorrow and is resting up. |
| Could it be a baby bird that cannot fly yet? If so, perhaps leave some food out for it. If it is an older bird I wonder if it has rabies or west nile virus? |
| use a broom push it away. |
| Sheldon, is that you? |
| Call the fire department. |
| You can call the Humane Society/Animal Control or if you are in Mo Co take it Second Chance if something is wrong with it. |
|
You would be able to tell if it's a baby, no? Does it look small?
|
| It may have flown into a window and is recovering. We have had birds sit on the porch for hours after after hitting the window...we always think that this one must have broken something or isn't going to leave..then hours later it flies away! I would give it a couple more hours. |
|
| Should OP give it a shelter (box with newspapers or rags) to keep warm overnight? |
| Just put out a little dish of water and a few crumbs in case it is hungry. If you think there are cats in the neighborhood that could harm it, you may want to put it in a box and bring it into a screened porch or mud room. We had to do this last year with 2 baby birds during the hurricane. We took them to Second Chance the next day and they did really well. |
| Does your HOA have rules about birds on your porch? Most do. I would call them. If the bird did not file paper work, you can ask it to leave. |
| Did you plant clover? |
|
I hope the PPs are kidding.
OP, find something else to occupy your attention. |
