Let me see, my parents started courting back then. My mother was 15, my father 28. They married when she was 26, right. Score he left fir war, he was in the military. Today they are married over 60 years and thankfully still healthy and happy. Back then this age difference wasn't a big deal. So I'll wait and give this man the same benefit of a doubt I would provide you under these circumstances. It is his word against theirs, I'd like to have a little more than the words of these accusers before I destroy a persons life. I am a woman and I have witnessed lots of crap from women over the years so I am skeptical to say the least. Why now? There were so many opportunities to come forward. Why now?

Her dad is f-ing gross. This was not, and was never okay. Either way, in the 70s this was illegal. Either way, Roy Moore attempted rape and assault on many of these women which is and was illegal.

I was 17 in 1977 and incredibly sheltered and naive. Also southern. It is totally believable to me that these girls had these experiences and didn’t know what to do about it when it happened. The word “stalker” wasn’t really in our vocabulary. One of my HS teachers invited one of my girlfriends to our prom! (The school frowned on it so they didn’t go, but he kept his job!).

I am old enough to remember the 1970's very well. If your parents are of the WW2 generation, then I get it. But the 1970's? No way.

In 1920 the ages of consent rose to 16-18 in the United States. Any parent since then that supported and conspired to have their child, still in puberty, date men 28 years old should have gone to jail and lost parental rights.

Color me skeptical. The average age of a WW2 draftee was 22. In Vietnam, the draft was only up to age 25. If they courted for 11years, your father would have “left for war” at age 39. There are military people retired at that age. What’s more your Mom would be 86+ today using your numbers and your dad would be 99+ Not impossible, but highly unlikely. There are only 50,000 or so centarians alive in the United States and most are women.
