I’m a Dem here in Texas. Our wind turbines froze.

One side - freedom! No taxes!

Other side- taxes, infrastructure and clear roads, power and water!

I guess we’ll be prying that freedom from their cold, dead hands?

Any possibility the photo was taken at an opportune time? Do you think states are coordinating exactly when they plow individual roads?

LOL No. The Texas government literally doesn't buy snow plows, salt, heating implements for things like nuclear reactors, or power from the National Grid.

Their whole plan was 'let it melt'. Well 4 days in a row of record snow is testing that plan.

+1
Texas does not plow roads. They also have no salt stockpiled to make them drivable.

I believe there's plows in the northern panhandle area, not sure about Dallas but definitely not once you go south past Austin. The cost of maintaining that sort of equipment isn't justifiable when it only snows...and sticks...in those areas like once every 10/20 years.

Texas may be turning blue faster than people thought.

The widespread electricity failure in Texas was largely caused by freezing natural gas pipelines, which are responsible for the majority of the state’s power supply.

Fossil fuel industry advocates falsely blamed renewable energy sources for the outage. https://nyti.ms/3s6Gnrk

Man the right wing fossil fuel sphere got out there with their message fast.
Democrats and progressives are always playing catch up.
Always trying to unring a bell.

Wind turbines work fine in cold Iowa and Denmark. Republicans run the state and power grid, trying to ding a scape goat for their lack of planning. Turbines work in much colder weather.

Yes, Rs are fast to point fingers and lay the blame elsewhere, CYA... Dems are a bit too pollyana to play by those rules.

Wind turbines also work well in Canada, including the province that regularly goes down to -40 F/C (same at that temp).

Great thread on what happened and what’s still happening by the public works director of the small conservative Texas town of Alvin:
