So again - you’d prefer the Baltimore residents still be living among filth. Good to know.

You think one time photo op is going to solve the social ill? Good to know.

This is exactly how Libs seem to think. Can’t fix everything in one day? Stay on your ass, and DO nothing. Nice.

Exactly. Or even better, don a pink pussy hat and march! That’ll *definitely* help!

Sounds like you were really triggered by the Women’s March.

Kicking people off of food stamps? Yeah, that's REALLY going to help Baltimore. I could go on and name a zillion anti-welfare policies.

If you told me that Republicans in Baltimore were stepping up contributions to their local food pantries, making huge gifts to school after-care programs, funding Habitat for Humanity, in a sustainable and long-term committed way ... but a one-off trash pickup on a weekend? Please. Don't insult me.

Baltimore has been a one-party city for decades, Maryland has had primarily Democratic Governors over those decades, Democratic Senators and Congressmen, and there have been a mix of Democratic and Republican Presidents, and Democratic and Republican Congresses.

So you're blaming occasional Federal Republican dominance for all of Baltimore's problems.

Democrats - the party of "I want all the power! But nothing's my fault!"

And if you don't want to pick up trash, there are a tons of other things you can do, as well. Or, you can keep complaining about how someone "politicized" their help. And how Trump was a jerk for calling out Cummings.

Since someone's bound to try to make a snarky remark, here's where I'll say I do litter clean up on my street and when I'm out for walks already. And I also volunteer in other ways. But there's enough need that every single one of you could fill up your spare time easily. You just have to jump in.

They won’t though. They’d never allow themselves to follow a Republican’s lead - much less, a Trump supporter *gasp*! They are the biggest bunch of bratty crybabies I’ve ever come across.

"Follow a Republican's lead"? How? By ripping food away from those same neighborhoods you're claiming to clean up through kicking people of SNAP? By resisting calls for minimum wage laws? By opposing universal health care? By taking away Baltimore girls' and womens' rights to control their reproduction and not have babies until they can afford to? By rolling back fair lending laws?

should I go on?

Republicans can pick up ALL the trash they want. It's a joke.

You're right. If Baltimore girls and women had been able to access abortions, if Republicans hadn't turned Baltimore into The Handmaids Tale, Baltimoreans would be doing so much better.

Oh wait. Baltimore girls and women have been able to access abortions. It isn't The Handmaids Tale.

And somehow, other locations in Maryland have managed to prosper. It must be the Republican stronghold in Baltimore that is causing the different outcome. Oh, wait, there is no Republican stronghold in Baltimore.

Huh.

Keep on deflecting. It's really helping the people of Baltimore. But you don't give a thought to the people of Baltimore besides how you can use them to support your hatefulness. Gold star for you.

Of course their problems go way beyond picking up trash. But it’s pretty impossible to do much of anything if they first and foremost don’t have a sanitary environment to live in. Maybe now that the alleys are cleaned up, local DEMOCRATS - you know, elected “leaders” - can take the next steps to tackle the host of problems these people face. They certainly haven’t done much in the way of trash removal for these neighborhoods, now have they? Speaking of insulting...

As if picking up trash is going to magically make Republicans start enacting more policies to lift them out of poverty and gun control laws to limit neighborhood violence.

It's the Democratic leadership who refused to support stronger laws about people carrying illegal firearms in Baltimore. You can read all about it in the Baltimore Sun if you were even remotely interested.

You're a vulture. Feeding off the poor people in Baltimore in a hateful attempt to support your agenda, when you clearly don't care one bit about them nor do you know anything about the lives they lead. You're a fantastic representative of the current Democratic membership.

Look, dude. You clearly have your knickers in a twist because a group of Trump supporters mobilized and cleaned out some trash-filled neighborhoods, because their local Dem “leaders” hadn’t bothered to do it themselves. These people saw a need and they acted. Not sure what your problem is, other than a clear case of sour grapes. It’s pathetic, really.

DP. I don't have my knickers in a twist at all, and if Republicans want to start authentically pushing local involvement in relief work (Habitat, schools, food pantries) IN THEIR OWN CITIES, then I would think that was great. This jagoff was from NoVa - he's sure to find SOME spot in Virginia that needs hands-on help, seeing as Virginia has more concentrated poverty than Maryland. This was a political stunt, no more, no less -- actually USING baltimore neighborhoods' poverty as a political stunt which makes it even grosser.

What's even grosser is the Democratic leadership in Baltimore neglecting this need for decades.

But you choose to go after the guy who saw a problem and acted.

How about taking that venom and holding your team accountable for their failures? This guy shouldn't have even had this opportunity, if Democrats were what they think they are.

No, and I can guarantee you that Trump will result in MORE filth, not less. These jerks didn't clean up filth; they picked up poor people's trash to score political points against them. Gross.

“Gross” perfectly describes anyone who is STILL obsessing over volunteers doing much-needed cleanup in Baltimore neighborhoods. Face it: you don’t care that the residents now have clean streets and alleyways. You would PREFER them to still be living among garbage. Anything would be better than having Republicans involved, right? People like you are truly despicable. There’s really nothing else to say.

Oh FFS. You're not fooling anyone, dummy. Republicans don't care about poor people.

Come to Baltimore. I'll take you on a tour.
You can tell me all about how the Democrats care about poor people.

No, the vultures are the ones who exploit Baltimore's poverty people to advance a political agenda that's harmful to the lives of Baltimore's poor people. That would be you.

“Democrats” did not screw up Baltimore. Corruption and structural racism screwed up Baltimore. When you are so fixated on your “team” you are blind to actual problems and solutions in your rush to blame the “other side.”

When you look at Democrats, don’t just look at Baltimore. Look at their actual policies and the results in Baltimore, In Manhattan, in Silicon Valley. Look at Obamacare. When you look at Republicans, don’t just focus on Kentucky or Mississippi or Alabama, look at their policies. Look at the tax cuts for billionaires and their wars.

Assess political parties based on their policies.

Ok, looking to hear all of your policy ideas to help Baltimore. Because obviously a one-time trash cleanup isn't going to do it. Seriously, I really want to know your ideas for entrenched poverty & violence. Evidence-based, please.

Actually, I'm a liberal and I think sometimes this IS what people need to do. They need to see, with their own eyes, the conditions people are living in and possibly meet and talk with people who need the assistance. I don't care if it was a political stunt or not, because a) it helped to clean up a couple of streets and b) maybe it changed ONE person's mind and c) maybe it will inspire further clean-up efforts from other groups.

I'm not sure how you can be ANGRY about this. Most people aren't stupid enough not to see that they are trying to create good publicity but who cares??

It was a net positive, regardless of motivations.

The guy who organized this appears to be a good, sincere man. At first he was going to make it a political event, but then disavowed that notion.

It was just a clean-up event with no strings attached and no political messages. That's the way it should be: charity for the sake of helping others.

It seems that the local residents appreciated the efforts. Hopefully it snowballs into something bigger for Baltimore.

No, he posted a video with the residents saying "thank you president Trump". That's a political message.

Only on DCUM and the leftist media can a man who donates his own time and money, organizes nearly 200 volunteers and clears out 12 tons of trash be condemned.

Interesting times we live in.
