They’re not okay with living together before marriage either. But, if you can pay, you can play, at least if your family is well- known in LDS circles (Porter’s is). He more than likely had no problems getting a temple divorce from his first wife and marrying his second wife in the temple, even though the bishop and higher ups knew he’d been abusive. Look up the questions that are asked as a condition to get a LDS temple recommend and you’ll see how messed up this is.
