Agree with this. Have friends from elite undergrad who had low gpas and were boxed out of lots of grad programs. I have no doubt they were smart enough to get good grades at a lower toer school.

For undergrad, I’d take the full scholarship. Why turn down free?

This. The debt burden will not be huge. The experience will be better, she will benefit from going to college with an amazing peer group, and she will enjoy whatever cachet and "benefit of the doubt" come from a Yale degree for her entire life. BU is a fine school, but Yale is very special opportunity.


$60K times four is $240,000. You don't think that's a huge difference?


I now see that this thread is two years old...but I'll respond anyway since others surely face similar decisions. OP said after savings and what they can contribute from income, the gap was $15,000 per year. So $60,000 was the four year total.

Yale. I wouldn’t want to have the other school associated with me for the rest of my days.
