Worst dog breeds...tried it once but never again

Love our pugs! Awesome personalities and easily trainable. we have been lucky with healthy ones.

We had labs and golden retrievers growing up, who were (for the most part) great dogs, but suffered from problems common to their breeds (joint issues, high cancer incidences, overwhelming exuberance, overbred stupidity). I have a giant mutt now, and at 12 years old he is still running 4+ miles several times a week with no joint problems. He's smart, affectionate, calm indoors, and has the rescue-dog loyalty and devotion I'd previously rolled my eyes about. I know there are risks in getting a rescue, butyour if you take time and find the right dog, I definitely think its the way to go.

what is this? it's well known that mixed breeds live longer and are healthier than purebreds. I don't know about smarter though. My siberian husky was extremely intelligent, bilingual, understood everyone by name, opened locked doors, opinionated, ran off for hours due to his restlessness and always came back home, and other things that humans aren't always smart enough to do.

How can anyone say such horrible and untrue things about DACHSHUNDS???? They are great dogs, and I don't think anyone that says such things ever could have owned one. They have a bad reputation for being difficult to train, but honestly, they just need walked a lot because they are small dogs and need to go out and pee more often than larger dogs.

Dachshunds are loyal, loving, sweet dogs who want to please their owners. They also have a sense of humor and are actually very smart. The person who called them stupid and difficult to train is probably not very smart and likely a little lazy.

There is a reason why they are so popular. But oh well, anyone that hateful should never own a dachshund anyways, they don't deserve it.

Agree. THe one I had was so beautiful and tiny the size of my palm (i have small hands). She was chocolate brown with green eyes and tiny. Miss her a lot. Unfortunately we left her behind with family because of airlines regulations.

Sounds adorable! I don't have a "worst dog breed" that I have tried, I've only owned one dachshund. But I can't stand anyone saying anything bad about them because of how much happiness my dog has brought into my life!

I only read a few first and a few last pages. Did anyone complain about French Bulldogs or Boston Terriers yet? These would be the breeds that we would consider getting. We are a small family with elementary school kids.

My son has a doberman..she is horrible! Whines constantly..whines to go out, then immediately whines to come in..eats a lot of dog poop. Yuck!! Gets plenty of good dog food. Barks in back yard constantly..she is almost 8 yrs old. Whines in her crate at night early morning hours never stops! They have 16 month old baby, and having another baby in 5 months..this dog is not good..

I have had a two bostons, but one is a frenchie boston mix. I can't say enough for how much they love my kids. But until they hit like the age of 8 they are very playful and active, and then in my opinion become the perfect companions.
