I am Russian. Ask me anything.

I don't really like street food in Russia, it's usually of subpar quality. The only thing I can think of is piroshki, literally "small pies", stuffed buns with fillings either sweet or such as meat, rice, eggs, etc.

1 and 2) not in a position to compare, really 3) yes 4) depends on the man 5) yes 6) women do shave under arms
I am talking about educated and relatively young men (under 40), I guess it's different in small villages for example

Not the OP, but also Russian and thought I'd take a crack at answering. I came to the US when I was 17 and for the most part only dated American men. But a few years ago I had a relationship with a Russian and since then I've had a couple of dates here and there with Russian men and also had a chance to talk about these things with other women who have been in a position to compare.

I confess that I did not expect much when I slept with my first Russian lover. He was older (over 40), working class, and the product of a culture that is still terribly misogynistic in many ways. He completely blew me away -- with his warmth, patience, sophistication, and desire to please. And while truly great lovers are rare in any group, my experiences and conversations with other women indicate that there are actually a lot of good lovers among Russian men. This in spite of being spoiled by demographics and widespread anti-feminist sentiments. They do go below, and if they are over 30, they are probably a little less likely than American men to expected a woman to be completely waxed or shaved, although with the younger generation it is becoming nearly universal, just like here if not more. Women, at least in cities, shave their legs and underarms, although it became standard a little later than here, probably not until the 1980s.

PP aka Russian potential friend: I am not Croatian or a Gypsy, but I've read the rest of the pages and I don't think OP cares about her potential friends' ethnicities.

OP here: I would be very much surprised if I found out there is a gypsy writing on this board! And I have nothing against Croatians Why even single them out?

OP again - I just realized maybe you meant Chechen? I met many nice Chechen people back in the day, they mostly worked for the regional government...

I don't, some Russians do, but not much anymore - there are Chechens to hate now

this is OP again. Actually, I have one problem with Jews Many of them claimed to be truly oppressed in the Soviet Russia, so came to the US seeking asylum and got their green cards in a snap. It is also easy for them to bring their parents here. Well, there was no life threatening oppression. Discrimination - yes, prejudice- yes. But not to the point of seeking and getting asylum. why do I care? because I have to work my butt off to stay in this country...

You can thank the Jewiah Libby for the facility with which Jews from anywhere in the world can immigrate with ease.

That's the Jewish lobby not 'libby'.

Op Can you explain to me, how did communism work on a day-to-day, practical basis? You mentioned the different workers - blue collar, white collar, party elite, farmers - so you just do your job and the state gives you what, free housing? Free power, water, heat? Tickets or coupons to take to the grocery store? Is everyone supposed to get the same number of coupons? Are you forced to go to your job? What if you want to retire or you are ill? Was there a set retirement age? Did a doctor have to certify for the state that you were too ill to work? Did you get vacations? How much? How about spending money for vacations? Who could have a car? Was alcohol legal?

Do Russian troll for American men if they think they can help them career wise, etc. (I mean more than American women). I hear Russian women have ice water in their veins.

Is there a strong culture of lying in Russia? (Asking because we had a Russian nanny who turned out to be a big liar.)
