all the kids in my child's daycare/preschool/kindergarten are named...

1) White flight names (Irish and British names) like Aidan, Liam and Alistar ala Freakonomics
2) Naming kids with what are really last names like Harrison, Jackson, Carson, Morgan, Ryley and Taylor

Both of these drive me nuts.

My Maiden name is one of these above and growing up, that is what everyone called me to the point where people would ask me what my last name was. I always wanted to name my daughter that (love my name and love that it has significance) and then it BLEW the hell up and everyone was naming their kids it. It ruined it for me. Maybe I'll wait a few years and it will die down.

My son is Zachary and I am surprised to hear that there are so many. We actually rarely meet one. There are no other kids in his grade (which is huge) with his name.

Keziah is a Biblical name. She was one of Job's daughters. I know 3 girls under age 8 named Keziah. I think it means sweet and fair.

We named our daughter Brielle and haven't met anyone else in her daycare with that name

How many Hannahs can there be in one preschool? At least 5. I also seem to come across a lot of Sophie and Sophias in the preschool set.

Sophia Sophia Sophia.

And some Henry's.

And Liam's

And Emma. Poor Emma.

Of course now that Obama's daughter is Sasha it will go way up in popularity!

I'm on the same boat. I loved the name Malia even before Obama ran for office and gave that name to my DD when she was born a few months before he won the presidency. Now, everyone thinks we got that name from them. I'm a bit disappointed because I really liked the fact that the name was not very common.

EMMA. EMMA. EMMA. ICK.

Aiden. Sophia.

THAT could NOT have been a surprise to ANYONE. Even if you were living in a cave.

I've heard of two Brielles. I think there might be a town in Jersey (of all places) with that name. Funny.

I would HATE going through life with a common or cutesie name. Thankfully, my mom gave me neither. Tried the same for my kids, hopefully succeeded.

That was unkind and unnecessary.

I've now heard of two girls named Brielle as well, and there is indeed a Jersey Shore burg of that name. It's around exit 100 on the Parkway.

If you don't want to be one of 10 of the same name in school, don't name your kids Madison, Addison, Isabelle, bella, Isabella, Emma, Ella, Ava, Kayla, Mikayla, Brianna, Taylor, Sophia, sophie, Chloe, Zoe, Aiden, Caden, Braden, Jayden, Jack, Jackson, Jacob, Lucas, Ethan... Or any messed up spellings of common names to be different. Katelynn, morgyn, kloey, etc
