You can go now! Many of the Enchanted Forest attractions ended up at Clark's Elioak Farm in Ellicott City- our favorite pumpkin farm! |
Yes! I was a student at Georgetown then and demonstrated against the university shutting WGTB down. But I think part of the problem was that GTB hadn't done enough to get Georgetown students involved so I was something of an outsider at that demonstration. |
| 80s hairstyle separation between private and public school kids. If you went to private school you had to have a bob. If you went to public school, you had to have a feathered, flip. |
| The irony is that the bob is so tasteless! The 2010 version - the bi/tri colored lopsided 'do is the worst! |
I went once for some bachelorette party. in some part of PG, right? white trash city |
Haha. Totally. It's in Temple Hills. The men who "dance" there hold AARP cards I think. Esp one -- Gary Thunderthighs! Some friends and I went recently in a fit of nostalgia. Major time warp. |
For me the irony is that so many Upper Northwestie women have had a bob EVER SINCE! |

Peter Pan as a distant fancy restaurant (with peacocks!)
The decorated store windows downtown at Christmas Waxie Maxie's When Willard Scott was the local weatherman Highs Dairy Stores When shopping carts in grocery stores and hardware stores had little ashtrays on them so people could smoke while they shopped! Loved loved the Biograph "Surrender Dorothy" |
| Oh yeah Mr. Smith's in Georgetown - drank there at 15! You are sooo right, they were famous for never carding. Ahhhhhh. |
| Anyone remember Hot Shoppes in Freindship Heights? |
Are you sure it wasn't Howard Johnson's? Loved the chocolate chip ice cream there! I do remember the Hot Shoppes in Bethesda. |
Stripper Club in Tenleytown? Near where Morty's is now? Who knew I would learn to love zoning regulation? |
I wish you could post a picture--I don't even know what a bob looks like. And the feathered Farah look was just a suburbanite thing- private grad here--plenty of girls from Bethesda had those feathered haircuts at private school. In fact, I'm not really sure it meant anything. Most peoples' hair was just bad all through the 70's and early 80's. Is a bob just a short cropped thing like an Ellen Degeneres? I think its cute. For a REKNOWNED LESBIAN. |

The bob is the chin length, asymmetrical and often suburban 'do that should be called a don't. Most of the time, the women who favor that cut just should not be wearing it.
Lately, I have seen it with two, three or more colors "professionally" streaked into the hair, sometimes with one color on the top and another color on the bottom. Looking at it, you will not believe anyone actually paid to look that way. The wearers often think it looks better than it does. Just say no! |
