Are you putting all your friends through a political-purity test right now?

Sure, it feels better to shout, “I Don’t Tolerate Fascists!!!”, but it’s not helping our cause. It’s more important to me to be effective than for me to feel good. YMMV.

This, 100%.

Left wing people on here talking about an echo chamber?!
Truly iconic and laughable.

Trump has been doing his thing for a decade. If anyone still supports him in 2025 after everything that he has said and done, then they are a lost cause.

That is absolutely true for the Trumpers in my extended family. They would rather die before admitting that Trump may not be the best choice for the US. They flat out refuse to acknowledge reality.

They love the narrative and won’t let facts get in the way of their fantasy.

I have several Trumper friends/family.

We have interesting/productive conversations.

Guess you are able to steer clear of politics.

That isn’t possible for our Trumper families members. They are totally immersed in the narrative.

Or you’re just a whacked out liberal who can’t listen to any opposing views?

“Opposing views”?

I’d welcome a conversation based on facts and reason. But they aren’t living in an alternate reality and are driven by irrational fear and bigotry.

That word is "Nazi." Nobody cares about their motives anymore.

They joined what they joined. They lent their support and their moral approval. And, in so doing, they bound themselves to everything that came after. Who cares any more what particular knot they used in the binding?”

Nobody would care about Nazis who joined the party because of other reasons besides hating Jews if not for the holocaust.

Since there’s nothing remotely like the holocaust happening, there’s no analogy.

People who use that analogy are obsessed or mentally unwell. Our friends vote as they want, we don't dwell on politics lol

Sounds like you could read a book or two on the conditions of Germany between the wars.

Everyone saying it's hyperbolic said the same thing when I told them Trump was going to overturn Roe. Wake up.

Over turning roe v wade and the holocaust aren’t remotely similar.

Trumpers have a Donnie sized hole in their souls. Daddy issues, abuse, bullying. Look at Muskie who know loves Don to the max and look at his daddy issues. When people tell you they have a Donnie sized hole, gives me the ick, lol.

Duh, do you even know history? It took a while for the holocaust to materialize and it took the support of all these "nice" nazis for it to happen.
Like all this DEI witch hunt that we have started, purging of the FBI and CIA, etc. This is how it starts.

I hope you realize how many logical fallacies are involved in what you’re suggesting.

For starters, the only two times this sort of thing has happened wasn’t after WW 1 in Germany and today in the U.S. once you realize that, the rest should fall into place

We knew they voted for him. We argued about stuff during COVID. But honestly we had kind of left it alone recently because we have had bigger fish to fry with other issues and things going on in our lives. They know none of us voted for him. They know we all disagree with them on pretty much everything. So it was just uncomfortable for a minute and then we moved on. But I thought about it this morning when I woke up for some reason. I think it makes me feel gross but at the end of the day they are good people and good friends and we do enjoy their company so I think, for me, I am going to continue to not discuss it and not let it affect our friendship. If they were more outspoken or obnoxious about it I would probably feel different, but last night was the first time other than an Instagram post on Inauguration Day that I was reminded that they voted for him, and I don't believe that cutting them off as friends is going to change anything about the sh!t show that is currently happening.

no 👏 they're 👏 not 👏

Shut up. Seriously.

Truly. I hate Trump but every time I see some snippy clapping meme it makes me closer and closer to appreciating him just wrecking the days of these sanctimonious snippy internet warriors.

The Holocaust isn’t the only terrible thing that Hitler did.

The point that PP is trying to make is that people aren’t paying attention. If you take off the blinders and actual examine what is happening, there are some frightening similarities between what is happening in the US today and what previous facists have done in history.

Put your head in the sand again but don’t say we didn’t warn you. Again.

Is there no "point of view" that would make you question whether a person was someone you wanted to hang out with?

DP.

Loathe Trump, but just don’t understand this POV.

Obviously, the vast majority of Trump supporters are neither Nazis nor anything approaching Naxis.

So what exactly do you hope to accomplish with your disdain and invective?

Seems to me it’s just emotive venting, and almost certainly counterproductive.

My advice to everyone who doesn’t like what’s happening: grow the eff up and have conversations with people.

You have to live with them one way or another.

Supporting a convicted felon who said it is OK to “grab women by the p*ssy” and incited a riot that lead to the death of law enforcement officers is not a valid “point of view.”
