Are they not breeding and keeping house any longer? I think they still are, only after work. |
+1 Michelle Obama’s book hits on this, their childhood in Chicago before the gangs and poverty moved in. Kids of all colors and creed played in the parks until dinner time. Families dressed up and went to church and temple. People were part of positive communities. School had textbooks, high expectations, discipline, and parents backed them up. |

1980s.
Outstanding cinema (ET, gremlins, Space Camp, Die Hard... need I go on?). Best new wave music, rap emerged as a genre, and rock took itself seriously. The US Army was tough and the CIA killed bad guys and we liked it. Bankers were on coke. Madonna was scandalous and Michael Jackson's moon walk set off an international obsession. Communism fell. Reagan gave the "where do we find such men?" speech and everyone loved it. We had an amazing country and we knew it. We were on top of the m-fing world. |
[b]They did not work outside the home. Also, they did not have several kids outside of wedlock for it to be the norm or glorified, and it was not looked upon to opt not to have children and instead lead career and pleasure lives. So yes, it is different than back then. |
