YES! 100% Clubs overpromise and underdeliver unless your club coach IS your HS coach, your father or you co-own the club.

Is there a reason why. Nike is usually packed (although I don’t think they’ve had a 8th grade team before)

We looked at it and held back. It was very expensive for the try out, $225, and it is being "managed" by the head of Madlax.

So that also explains the reason for it being mostly Madlax players.

Any chance that it’s a real tryout or all the spots pre chosen

I am no fan of Madlax, but I think on the spectrum between fair and fraud, it will be more on the side of fair. There has already been a lot of pre-selection, based on non-MadLax players choosing not to come, and MadLax players filling the void. So within that already skewed pool, I expect they will mostly pick the best players, with perhaps a couple of undeserving MadLax players sprinkled in.

Absolutely not. This entire exercise is nothing but a money grab where they keep feeding on the younger grades. Don't waste your money, because at the end of the day, they will ALWAYS pick the ML player over the other kid. In fact, my son was point blank told he shouldn't have left ML a few years ago if he wanted to make the team. Signed - committed D1 Player Dad

Any updates on Madlax tryouts? Do they actually take new players for their capital teams?

Or they see other kids that they want and then roll out the red carpet, trying to take kids from other teams.

MadLax stunk it up at NAL, blown out 14-0 by FCA. DCE and NL seem to be going in the right direction though.

I guess we will see how Madlax… I mean the DMV team will do.

Update:

Next Level continues to get players from MadLax and elsewhere, the roster has got to be getting pretty big.

DC Express continues to add players too. They did surprisingly well at NAL and NLF, much better than in HoCo. Their roster is getting big too.

MadLax continues to lose its historical players to NL and DCE, but also continues to backfill with out of town players, and players from lower tier local teams such as True.

VLC continues to say they are starting a 2028 team for the fall, and they have darn good 2026 and 2027 teams.

Any other programs worth discussing?

I’d be interested in hearing about True and Top Caliber if someone has any insights

NL lost 2-11 to this FCA team last weekend.
