Kristi Noem shot a puppy for being untrainable as a hunting dog

And it’s been 5 years.

WTH did she do w their corpse? Any sadness or remorse?

Dexter had more empathy

She left the corpses of the dog (Cricket) and the goat in the gravel pit, horrifying the onlooking construction workers. Well, the fact that the goat didn't die right away, and she had to go back and try again to off it, might have played into that.

And then she posted again, just recently, about putting down 3 horses as proof that she's still "doing what needs to be done." She keeps doubling down, as if killing things is a merit badge.

She was trying to train a dog to kill birds. The dog jumped out of the back of her pickup truck and killed some of her neighbor's chickens. What was she expecting a 14 month old dog to do???

As for the horses, I get that they get old and need to be put down but three at one time? It just seems so weird that she has these situations where she kills multiple animals the same day.

She’s a bloodthirsty loon. Just look at her eyes.

Her story doesn’t pass the sniff test. She was upset that the dog wasn’t a good hunting dog by 14 months. She was embarrassed that she was responsible for the neighbors’ chickens being killed. Her emotions got the best of her and she killed the dog without weighing her options or consulting with anyone. Then she killed the goat because, what the hell, it stank and chased her kids and she was in a heightened emotional state and she didn’t want to deal with it anymore. She was frazzled enough that she couldn’t put the goat down with one shot. She was shooting animals, oblivious to onlookers, until it was over.

She claims it’s legal to put down a an animal that has killed livestock. Chickens aren’t classified as livestock under South Dakota law. As in most states, they’re classified as poultry. I’m supposed to believe a farmer doesn’t know that chickens aren’t livestock? I don’t know if what she did was legal. She mentions that the dog whipped around to bite her when she tried to stop the attack on the chickens. That’s it. She doesn’t say the dog actually bit anyone. The goat didn’t kill any livestock. She was just an angry person with a gun that day.

I don’t know what the strategy is in sharing this story and showing no remorse whatsoever, but perhaps, as a pp suggested, she knew somebody was going to go public with it and she decided to do it on her own terms.

It takes a long time for a book to come out. If you wanted to get ahead of a bad story, you wouldn't tell it in your book - and you certainly wouldn't tell it in this unbelievably unremorseful, unself-aware sort of way.

Americans care more about killing animals than killing children, so I don't know how she didn't get the memo.

^^Think about what she did. She lived on a ranch, not in a suburb. She drove the truck to her neighbor's. She has a bird dog with her. It was not leashed and it was not restrained. *Why* do you think she brought her half grown rambunctious bird dog with her ?! OF COURSE it did what an untrained bird dog will do - chased the chickens.

At best, she's literally an idiot. More likely, she was looking for an excuse to kill the dog. The chicken incident gave her that excuse.

Further, if she had an audience, she didn't give a rat's ass that they witnessed the killing. She didn't give a rat's ass that her actions would be traumatic for the onlookers.

And how was a dog in a pickup truck not under her control? Was the dog not restrained at all? That's a human person problem, not the dog's problem.

I totally agree that school shootings and lack of better gun control are a bigger issue than one dog, as bad as Noem is.

Not true. I'm opposed to abortion except for rape, incest, and medical reasons. I'm also very much horrified by dogfighting and shooting a healthy dog in a gravel pit while it's looking at you and trying to escape. There's something off about her.

Funny you didn’t mention dying by gun violence, which is the leading cause of death for children. Which is what I meant. Noem should have known there is only one death sentence (pun intended) in politics when it comes to guns.

PP here. My husband and I have never had guns, and we advocate for stricter gun laws.
