What does symptomatic

I have a very allergic kid who masks a lot in the spring due to pollen. He doesn't "appear symptomatic" if you see him.

That was one thing I discovered during the mask mandates. Very few allergy and asthma symptoms.
+1 It's amazing how well they work for allergies. I loved being able to wear a mask during allergy season.
These days, I am afraid to, because of people like OP. Instead, I am staying home. If I have to go out, I am drugging myself with migraine pills, antihistamines, steroid eye drops and nasal sprays so I don't feel like Sh$$. It was much easier to wear a mask.

I stay home as most of those meds aren't working for me right now and trying to avoid people like OP who wouldn't think twice about going out sick and making me sick.

PP here. I already had COVID and I stay vaccinated, so if it's not allergy season, I go out without a mask except on public transportation.

It's pretty clear some of you have issues and are fearful. You're using these fears of hypothetical health situations as your excuse. You don't live in the real world but inside your mind.

I'm not in DC but I'm in a normal place and I really never see masking anywhere except the odd person in the supermarket, who typically looks like they have issues.

When I travel outside the DMV, I notice people seem to be so much more normal in general (beyond just masking, of course).

This area seems to be a hotbed of mental illness.

Should I assume they are unvaxxed? Just super paranoid or something??

I find this so weird.

If they have weak immune system, they need to try to minimize risk of infections in every way possible.

The pandemic has convinced a large number of people that they're suddenly and significantly immunocompromised. And some are, but many aren't. If you're not on corticosteroids, biologics, chemo, or radiation therapy, you're probably not significantly immunocompromised.

You have no basis for this statement other than the fact that you are....a big jerk. Who do you think you are? Are the spirit reader? A DCUM psychic.

go away.

You haven't noticed a significant increase in the number of people claiming to be immunocompromised? Where were all these people during previous flu seasons?

But masking alone in her car doesn't make sense. I almost don't believe that detail.

DP-I see folks driving around in their cars with masks on —recently.

Why do you care?

Because it's dangerous.

Must have been looking in a mirror then. Anyone badgering someone else on mask wearing is the one with the issue. Why cant you just leave people alone?

The bigger question op is why do you care? And I'm concerned that 4+ years into a worldwide pandemic you are still unable to figure this out. What does that say about your intelligence level?

Uh how is wearing a mask dangerous for driving? Maybe you should use your mouth less while driving?

You are insane. When h1n1 was bad my doctor had me mask. You questioning people's medical issues is bat chit.

To clarify, it's dangerous if you have glasses. Assuming you breathe.

OK lol, that makes more sense. I do wear glasses and mine dont fog up anymore thankfully. But foggy glasses + driving is a bad mix for sure.

Awfully sensitive. I take it you're one of the immunocompromised individuals that isn't actually taking any immunosuppressants. Let me guess: you have an "autoimmune disease."

No.

Do you mean in your day-to-day or here on DCUM?

I think you are noticing more because you are paying attention to it. I do think people talk about it more, because of how the pandemic changed discussions about health. Maybe they kept it to themselves more.
