This, all of the way. Potomac and Gonzaga are never even mentioned in the same sentence in my very wealthy neighborhood. Totally different crowds.

Both are great schools. This is getting ridiculous.

Gonzaga is all boys, religious, a fraction of the cost of Potomac and better at sports. Lots of families would choose it over Potomac for these reasons, so we should just accept that the schools appeal to different families and leave it at that. I know lots and lots of successful Gonzaga alums.

+1. Gonzaga and Potomac both are great schools and we considered both for DS, along with a bunch of other schools. He’s a straight A student with high test scores and a very talented athlete, so he had a lot of options. Cost isn’t an issue for us and Potomac would have been much more convenient.

But, DS loved Gonzaga from day 1 and knew that’s where he wanted to be. He had no interest in Potomac. DH and I agree that GZ is a perfect fit for him. Again, I think Potomac is a great school, but it’s a very different experience from GZ and not one that every kid wants.

This is true but SSSA and Bullis should NOT be on anyone's list. I do not care how hard people try. And the inclusion of Potomac is very suspect. It's heavily athletes not strong academic students. St. John's should also not be on there - the honors program students are impressive but there are a tiny micro percentage of the whole school. Potomac parents have chips on their shoulders. They always try to sneak in the school. I think most of the lists are made up by them.

Just like the unreasonable lists made by Catholic school parents trying to sneak in Gonzaga and Visi right.. I mean putting them above SAES and Madeira is nuts!? Not sure why parents cant understand that outside of sports, Potomac is a good school not an academic powerhouse but a top school for sure. Maybe you're salty you have to drive your kids to school everyday who knows -NCS and Potomac parent

Thanks for outing yourself—and your agenda. DD is at NCS and DS is at Potomac because likely rejected by St. Albans and/or Gonzaga. It’s all clear now. Why else would you have one in DC and one in VA? Who’s really the one salty about their commute?

You clearly don't know a single thing. First of all, all students take the 70+ buses to Potomac, no parent drives their child to school. Very simple. 2nd, I have two daughters. Nice try. If I had a son I wouldn't even look at Gonzaga, what a desolate institution. Where are your kids at, Whitman or HC?

Actually, my child experienced bullying so we looked for a better environment that would accept DD in her current grade. Again, where do your children attend school? It seems like you really are a lowlife onlooker weirdo with no kids.

DCUM doesn't like the suburbs. IRL, both Potomac and Holton are considered among the best of the DC-area privates, but this board is skewed.
