Taking your mental health seriously is not ridiculous. The upper Midwest is a depressing sunless place, especially during the school year.

A friend from high school dumped U of M for Arizona State. In December he was hanging out with a bunch of cheerleaders at the pool while the slugs in Michigan were stomping through 3 feet of snow. Poor guy was stuck in investment banking for 15 yrs because of his lightweight degree.

Sounds like a classic finance bro. He will get divorced at least 3 times, and probably get picked up for insider trading.

Sounds like a better life than being in the freezing rust belt going to maga rallies, surrounded by opioids, obesity and brain drain.

I would be more concerned about the MAGA culture around any college, more so than the weather. The weather improves, MAGA doesn't.

That’s more of a Virginia thing….

Yes, wouldn’t MAGA be a bigger issue at the “warm, sunny” Southern schools? The Upper Midwest hater is making no sense.

Not a lot of MAGA types in Ann Arbor or in most college towns. They tend to be liberal strongholds even if the state they are in runs red. So not sure what the midwest hater is babbling about. I think s/he has probably never been to any of the places s/he rants about.

LOL. So, wait, you want us all to attend schools in the South to avoid MAGA rallies, opioids, and obesity?

This whole thread has got to be satire, right?

Three feet of snow? You realize that’s what 36” amounts to. Hyperbole does not lend to authenticity. In other words, I don’t believe your posting. Even so, ASU is not considered one of the better public schools in this country. #56 at USNWR. That’s the public school ranking. #121 overall. Not impressed. Sorry.

Sorry to burst your bubble but nobody values a Michigan or Indiana or Ohio State BA more than an Arizona State, Ole Miss or Florida BA. They’re all just large public degree mills. It’s a box checking degree. You don’t get any extra headhunters calling you because you were depressed and frostbitten in south Chicago or podunk West Lafayette or Ann Arbor for 4 yrs.

Let's see. The median salary for an ASU graduate with a bachelors degree in Business Administration, Management and Operations is $62,188 while the median for a University of Michigan graduate with the exact same degree is $100,155. So yes, the value of a Michigan degree is considerably higher than one from ASU.

That's not surprising. University of Michigan attracts people who view life as one big competition. Their sole objective is to make as much money as possible.

You can disparage people based on biased speculation as much as you want, but the FACT is that those who go to the University of Michigan can and do make more money than ASU grads with the same degree.

At the graduate level, sure. Harvard faculty seem to consider it a peer school (https://faculty.harvard.edu/diversity-peer-institutions), as they do with Michigan.
