Where did you get this data? The median Sidwell SAT in 2019 was 1310...did it really jump 200 points in 3 years? |
Basically big state schools don’t care. Everybody else does. |
| ^^^Michigan knows Sidwell-probably Wisconsin too. |
Did this plan work for them? Serious question. I have a student that seems to think attending another tough school other than a top ivy will be somehow be dramatically different. These type of schools are full of aggressive, high performing students from number 1 down to number 20 and probably beyond. Plus the real world is full of these types. I am not sure his plan to aim a little lower than the top will solve this problem in any way. Should not they just develop the skills to deal with the fact that plenty of things of life are difficult and competitive. Find a way to cope. |
According to this (quite authoritative source for comparisons across schools as well), Sidwell median SAT a few years back was 1480: https://graphics.wsj.com/dynamic-inset-iframer/?url=https://asset.wsj.net/wsjnewsgraphics/dice/ADVERSITY-e4e29395-d059-499c-aa63-6f10f4132367/inset.json&layout=bleed |
Why funny? Median GPA has been announced in School meetings with CCO. Median SAT is indeed around 1510. |
So odd...WSJ ran a story supposedly using the same index and indicated the following: At Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., the median SAT is 1310, which the College Board's Adversity Index would reduce to 1218. |
Yes, this makes sense. lower performing kids are applying test optional. |
Odd. In the upper half of the class (top 60/65 students), median SAT has been around 1530-1550 in recent years |
To my knowledge, WSJ never said that. |
| There's a link there so yes the data analyzed by the WSJ says that |
Where is the link? Is it a WSJ link? Or third party? |
I think you have this link in mind (but it is not WSJ): https://taxprof.typepad.com/taxprof_blog/2019/11/the-impact-of-the-sat-adversity-index-on-median-sats-a-school-by-school-analysiss-consider-adversity.html |
| I graduated in the early 2000s and the median was around 1450-1500 then. My 1400 resulted in me being "required" to retake. |
I call BS on this. Please provide a link for this. |
