lol what? Getting/expecting good grades has been deemed a white supremacist value. |
Cite the CRT handbook you are referencing so we can all go look at it. Also cite the schools that hace adopted that guidebook. |
But Quanon told me I can’t quote from CRT. |
I doubt there is a CRT handbook, per se. It's a collection of viewpoints, which some schools have accepted and some states are prohibiting by law. But you know this. |
And this is where anyone saying crt isn’t a thing loses credibility. No one says there is a guide book or a Manuel. If you want to learn about how standards based grading is racist, look up Asao B. Inoue and his push to move towards effort based grading. |
Wrong again https://www.amazon.com/Critical-Race-Theory-Third-Introduction/dp/147980276X |
LOL. You are obviously not an academic. “A collection of viewpoints.” No, dear. There are actual published books and articles. Go read them so you can sound more informed when you critique the theory. |
And note that it’s categorized in “jurisprudence”. It’s a legal theory, taught in law school. |
I don’t know where you got any of this crap about his theory on grading being part of CRT. Basically what he is saying is that grading on the “curve” Doesn’t work in every classroom. Harvard figured this out long ago. You won’t have an equal amount of F’s as you do A’s. |
The theory is one thing; it's basic tenets are generally understood. But it's become a catch-all phrase for anti-racism pedagogy, which has many variants of views including the one mentioned above that expecting high grades is a white supremacist value. I don't think anyone really objects to learning what the theory is about. The objection seems to be with the way schools are implementing these anti-racism ideas, some of which are from CRT. |
Yes! Written by a law professor. |
While I agree with the PP who says that there is no CRT handbook that says good grades are white supremacist culture, I do believe that they are a bit naive or uninformed about how CRT concepts have shaped curriculums. I have read math curriculums that literally say “focusing on getting the right answer is white supremacist culture.” Btw, I have no issues with CRT being taught in college or late high school, provided that it is taught as what it is, which is a theory. |
Those are some very interesting reviews! Some of the people here who defend CRT and say it's not really a thing should read them. |
Exactly! I have been trying to say this but less articulately than you did. |
Who says it’s “not really a thing”? It’s an academic legal theory and as such it is not being taught in elementary school. Or else man those kids must be advanced geniuses that they can discuss legal theory. |
