Plenty of Americans send their kids to boarding schools.

I don't know anyone who went to boarding school.

It's common among the Old Money set in DC, NYC, Philadelphia, and Boston. Lots of excellent boarding adjacent to the Acela Corridor.

Yeah. Half the kids I went to college with came from boarding schools! My dad wanted to send me to his HS (Holderness) but mom wouldn’t go for it.

And I now several.

It’s fairly expected among rich old money in the NE, especially NYC and Boston. Day school for elementary and boarding for middle and HS. Then off to college.

I don't know anyone who went to boarding school.

Tons of them in America but likely different circles than you. Typically for the very wealthy (think well into the 7 figures HHI).

Phillips Academy, Phillips Exetor, St. Pauls, Lawrenceville, Deerfield, Groton, Hotchkiss, Cate, Thatcher, St. Albans (her e in DC), Georgetown Prep (in DC metro area), etc

I find the apology by princess Catherine really inauthentic. She edited the photo herself? She has time to be doing that? The edits aren't like removing a pimple or smoothing lines, they are putting different photos and together and realigning whole body parts. This has to be someone in the media team or a staff person. But somehow they think it's better if she takes the blame herself? I don't get it

This is what I was thinking too. It’s simply bizarre that Catherine herself would photoshop that picture. Even more bizarre is that KP is letting her take the blame. But let’s say that she did edit the photo herself, why would KP let her take the blame?

KP is either bungling a very simple personal health matter and creating the PR nightmare for Catherine OR they are doing a very bad job covering up something. Either way, no one is minding the store at KP.

Helps nail in top college acceptances.

Obviously for worldwide Royals, too.

I do. I guess it depends on what your circle is and your socio-economic status. Is this really that hard to figure out? You are a regular Joe, others aren't.

NP. You’re really making the case for how great boarding school is, with your classist, rude, unnecessarily unkind remarks. You are actually being proof that, while of course American boarding schools exist, they clearly produce some awful people. (Or they inspire “strivers” who try to act rude and superior to fit in with the boarding school “circles.”)

Saying it doesn't exist just because you don't know people is incredibly stupid. Are you denying that there are no such school in the US? Come on.

DP here. I went to boarding school, as did my siblings, parents, and grandparents. They were old New England money. No money left by my childhood, just the habits of puritan New Englanders, who sent kids away to boarding school. I am not sending my children to boarding school - my experience was mixed, and I think I can recreate the good things with independence-building experiences and a high quality education. But more importantly I want my kids home with me, selfishly. I want to keep mothering them in a hands-on way through their teen years because I would miss them. Nothing deeper than that.

To the person who said "isn't the point of having kids raising them at home" or some such, well, yes, the point of kids is to enjoy having a family. But by that logic you'd never let your kids move out of the house. Many countries think we are bonkers for sending kids away to residential college, when they could go to school from home. Other people are rabidly against day care. Cultures are different, and kids and families thrive in all of them.

With all due respect, it is too hard to explain to non-multi-millionaires. You either understand the BS culture or don't.

We don’t know that Catherine herself took the blame. She could still be in pain meds. She might not have the login to her own Instagram account. Why should she? She has a PR team to post on her behalf. The PR team wrote that Catherine was to blame and signed it with a C. No idea if Catherine herself authorized that.

If this is all about custody that seems ridiculous- the kids are accustomed to parents traveling and being raised by nannies already. Not much will change. And Kate could even become more famous and wealthy after divorce so money cannot be the issue. I don’t understand what she needs a bargaining chip or leverage for ?

Bc she won’t have full custody of the kids. They will be shelled to boarding school and she’ll see them 6x a year.
Maybe 1 week in august.

They will likely go to boarding school even if no divorce. Perhaps return home on weekends, they have been looking at schools nearby.

I think that this whole thing is about boarding school. They finally came to an agreement in November last year. Kate is out of commission less than two months later. Those boarding schools messed up Will and Harry. She is a very good mother who loves her kids and I think that her kids well being is basically the only thing she would go against the firm for and she is clearly making a statement against the firm right now.

Kate went to boarding school. She wants them both to attend her boarding school, which is co-ed. William and Charles finally agreed, so that was hammered out in November.

I should add that I have done some incredibly embarrassing things on post-surgical pain medication. I was definitely not at my best.

Kate did not edit that photo or make the statement. Get real.
