| Which high school has the most school spirit in nova? Which school's events are sold out? Who sells the most t-shirts? |
| the fuck does this even mean? are you writing a bad SNL skit? |
Huh. Guess I thought everyone knew that cheer. The title of my post is a line taken from a cheer done at pep rallies and football games. It's meant to inspire a "cheer battle" where each side cheers louder than the other side. I learned it in high school. |
I just snarfled my Pepsi. Thank you. You have just made my entire day so much brighter. |
I don't know, but who is 'we'?
|
so, you're saying the bad SNL skit actually is rooted in a pathetic reality? OMFG |
This is Northern VA. Not the midwest. School sporting events don't sell out. Adults don't wear HS t-shirts (unless they're just kidding themselves about being the same size they were back then). And unless they're a cheerleader, most HS kids don't have anything resembling school spirit. Do they even still have pep rallies??? |
| Ok. Maybe I'm being naive? I grew up in pwc schools, and we had pep rallies, football nights had overflowing parking lots, kids wore their school tshirts to practice and also "spirit week", even choral concerts were packed with standing ovations. Does this not happen in fairfax/arlington/alexandria? Really? It's all about the gifted program and that's it? Is there any wholesome fun at high school these days? |
Are you sure about that? Sounds like you might not be finished yet. |
Evidently. |
No. I don't think people put much stock in these vapid and superficial "wholesome" activities. We tend to stress individuality here, rather than conformity and groupthink. |
Wow, I know Woodson, Lake Braddock, Robinson, West Springfield, and TJ all have these activities going on. If you can't enjoy some simple fun activities in high school, when can you? |
Sure these schools have games it sounds like the OP is alluding to a different level of community involvement in HS Sports. Do they even sell tickets to games in this area? (they didn't when I was in HS). Games are likely attended by students at the school, maybe some alumni, and parents but it's not a big draw as a community event. As a PP pointed out, this isn't the Midwest and there could literally be a hundred other activities and events going on each weekend in the DC metro area. |
| PWC is very different than FFX or Arlington. |
Not saying that this is good, but except for one or two events per year (and maybe not even that), I think you'll find no such thing inside the beltway, nor anywhere in the Corridor. |
