Do you think LeAnn Rimes is too skinny?

Anonymous
My friend and I are working out regularly together, both trying to get fit and lose weight. We were talking about celebrities the other day and their bodies, workout routines, etc. and I mentioned that I aspire to be fit like LeAnn Rimes, and that I think she looks good. My friend was horrified and really got on my case, saying that LeAnn Rimes is like a skeleton, that she is so unhealthy, etc. I guess she's skinny, but she also has a lot of muscle, and really defined arms and legs from the photos I've seen...and honestly I don't think she looks skeletal. My friend's reaction has me wondering if my perception is off. So what do you think of Leann Rimes? Thanks in advance.

I think it is far more unhealthy of you to fret about the weight of celebrities.

I think she looks freakish, scary, and is a poster child for eating disorders. There is nothing attractive about her physique whatsoever, and she's certainly not sexy. The opposite of sexy.

She looks disgusting. Sad really.

Thanks to 15:13#1 and 15:13#2 for your comments....wow, okay, so maybe I am a little off in my perception, I guess? So here is a photo of her that I had seen -- I really don't think she looks freakish or skeletal...does she, really? Perhaps she does in other photos, but at least, in this photo, do you really see freakish, scary, disgusting, etc.?

She does look too skinny. A couple of years ago she looked a lot healthier. And you know she's got implants, right?

OP here. Rest assured that I am not 'fretting about the weight of celebrities.'

Yes, you really are. It wouldn't even occur to me to think about how skinny or fat a celebrity is, much less go through the trouble of posting a comment on a message board. Not healthy.

this.

On another note: Is it just me, or does Paris Hilton actually look healthier in those pics from the link? Holy crap - I used to think SHE was a skeleton. She actually looks great with a few more womanly curves. This doesn't mean she looks chubby in any way - just not as rail thin as she was before.

This is going to sound strange, but I aspire to look like Melissa Joan Hart did when she did her bathing suit cover. She had worked hard to lose 40 lbs or something and looked great.

OP here. I had the same thoughts about paris hilton.

I'm 15:13 #1, and I looked at your pic. That's probably the best she's looked - but she's wearing a coverup that covers up how she looks.

I stepped away from my computer to get some water, and was thinking about this. The thing about LeAnne Rimes is she looks unnaturally thin. She looks lilke she starves herself and works out like a crazy person. She does not look healthy to me.

I think there are people who are small and lean and as thin as LeAnne who look fine. But on her, it looks unnatural.

So, Ultimately, I think it depends on your own body type. Are you naturally long and lean? Would that physique work for your natural body type? Or are you built in a different way, and so should have a different type of aspiration?

I'm not going to fault you for comparing yourself to celebrities - they're everywhere - but I might think about your body type and think if there are other people you might be more like. (female athletes?)

I think someone like Gwyneth Paltrow (say what you will about her) is extremely thin, and perhaps slightly crazily so, but it looks ok on her. I read some interview with her where she talked about the cleansing she does before professional projects (like a magazine cover or a red carpet event). For like weeks before she does a crazy cleanse diet and really works hard for her ultimate look, but when she's off, she's 5-7 pounds heavier, and more soft and round. I think that 5-7 pounds heavier her is what she's really supposed to be like. YOu can't live your life at the extreme. And LeAnn Rimes is trying to live at that extreme, especially with the implants. Crazy.

Get fit, get strong, get healthy, but don't aspire to an unrealistic, unachievable vision of yourself.

Sigh. I don't know why I am going to bother responding to your comment...my friend and I were chatting about celebrities and their bodies and their workout routines, as friends sometimes do, especially friends with fitness goals who are working out regularly together. And since you said "It wouldn't even occur to [you] to think about how skinny or fat a celebrity is," then it follows that you should have no opinion on the body of Leann Rimes and therefore no relevant contribution to this thread (I am not sure why you even opened it).

Thanks for the comments. I am short, and small-framed. I think what i most admired about the photos i had seen of leann rimes was her muscle tone. I am not looking to become super skinny (i don't think it is physically possible for me, anyway) but i wouldn't mind a stomach like the one in that photo, for example.

If you can see breast bones-too skinny.
Google some more images of her, she looks unwell. Not attractive.

Now that link you posted wth Clooney's girlfriend. OMG, she makes me want to be a lesbian.

She was scary skinny for a while:

And she's since gained some weight, but she still looks awful. It's obvious that it's not her natural weight- she dropped all those pounds in a bizarre effort to look more life her husband's ex-wife. She even got her implants done by the same doctor who did his ex-wife's boob job. Creepy!

I do find it odd that she is your body inspiration, because I think she has a weird body shape that was obviously achieved through unhealthy means. Muscle and bones. I don't have a problem with thinness (I'm quite small myself) but it looks weird on Leann, probably because it's a result of some kind of disordered eating or exercise obsession, in addition to her obsession with her husband's ex.
