I'm hostessing a shower this weekend and about half of the guests have yet to reply. So could be anywhere from 15-25 people. I'm on a tight budget so want to have plenty of food, but not waste any. I'm also trying to lose baby weight, so i don't want the house full of temptation. And I have a newborn so no time to cook.
What desserts can I buy that are: 1. relatively inexpensive 2. readymade 3. freezable in individual servings after the party thanks! |

I am not sure if this is freezable but I came across it last night and it looked so elegant and yummy! It seems super easy to make ahead as well.

OP, I know this isn't dessert, but Trader Joe's has HUGE containers of strawberries right now for about $8.
You can serve a ton of them to guests via a fruit plate or dipped in chocolate, and still have a lot leftover for your own family this weekend/next week. I might serve those cut nicely in a bowl, next to angel food cupcakes, with a bowl of whipped cream and/or strawberry or vanilla ice cream. Make your own shortcake bar. For probably about $14 total. |

Friend brought this to our neighborhood dinner once, and we all went nuts:
Layer ice cream sandwiches in a 9x13 (spray first to prevent sticking) Drizzle caramel topping over them Spread Cool Whip on top Decorate if you want Freeze Serve while still frozen (obviously) OMG this was sooo good! |
There's a Paula Deen recipe called frozen banana split like this. It's very sweet and serves a lot of people; I wouldn't serve it for a shower. Cookies and brownies freeze well--I wouldn't freeze anything with frosting though. Ganache freezes pretty well--I make a chocolate layer cake with ganache and have frozen it in individual slices. Then you can microwave and the ganache is like hot fudge, great with ice cream. Or how about donuts? They're cheap so no biggie if you toss some or send home with people--you could order ahead with special colored icing or sprinkles. |
