| Have had one c-section. Just curious as to how many people have had & whether you've had complications with 2nd, 3rd, etc ones. I'm especially interested in people who have had more than 2. Did repeat c-sections factor into the number of children you ultimately decided to have? Please, I don't want this thread to turn into a discussion of the merits of c-section v. VBAC. Thanks in advance. |
| I had two..no issues..the second one was easier because it was planned so no pushing. The first was an emergency so I was all beat up from laboring..even with that though..felt fine a few days after. Doc said I was fine to keep on going. My other friend had three and the third she did have some bleeding problems..they were managed though..but she had to stay in the hospital a few extra days. |
| Two, going on three. Both times I wanted a vaginal birth but it didn't work out that way. No complications and easy recovery though. |

I had two. First one had complications, second one was normal/piece of cake. It's a crap shoot...
I think I wouldn't have more than 4.... |
| 2 csections- three kids (one set of twins). no complications. |
| Had two and lost lots of blood with the second procedure. Got a tubal ligation with the second and a blood transfusion. |
| Co-worker's wife has had 5. Doctor cleared her for one more (but they're not doing it!). No complications with any of them, and she homeschools her kids so she deals with all that while recovering from the surgery. |

I've had three. First was emergency c-section after lots of fun labor. Very hard to recover from. #2 and #3 were because I got pregnant so quickly again that the risk of uterine rupture was too high. Planned c-sections are much easier to recover from - by the time I got back from the hospital I was functional - not out running but able to climb stairs easy, drive, walk, etc.
During my third, my doctor told me that I really shouldn't have a fourth as the number of adhesions was pretty high. So, I might have future problems with that. Other problems are I used to have a nice flat stomach - now it's the part of my body that gains weight first and I will always have a pouch. Such is life! |

One c-section, one kid.
Had a horrible experience even though it was planned (LO was breech). |
| 3, and I recovered well from all three, no complications. 3 children. I do remember asking the doctor if I was a good candidate for a third, and he noted that my uterine scarring was minimal, and gave me the go-ahead. |
| I only had one c-section and one VBAC. Part of the reason I choose VBAC is in case I wanted to have 3rd child (didn't want to have too many c-sections, if I could avoid it), and also because I was worried about maxing out the number of surgeries I could have in that area. What happens to those who are advised not to have anymore c-sections, but go on to have other issues later in life that require cutting in that same general area? |
| I've had one, about to have my second. The first one was a piece of cake, crossing my fingers for this time. I have a few friends who have had 3 and know a colleague's wife who had 4. None of them had any issues. |

Have had two, will have third in September. All have been awesome.
I asked my OB when pregnant with #2 if I could have more (we have always wanted 3-4 kids) and she said as long as there isn't a huge build-up of scar tissue at the incision area, it was fine. However, they wouldn't know that until they go in for #2. Luckily, I didn't have much scar tissue there so she said having a third was going to be fine. If we decide to have four, she will have to check again when she goes in for the 3rd c-section. My friend's mom had all of her children via c-section. They have six kids! She referred to it as her "baby zipper". This was back in the mid-70s to early 80s so things have changed since then. |
| I had two. My sister had four. No complications for either of us. I stopped at two because I could not think about waking up all night with another newborn/infant. I am too tired with two kids. |
I am going to have my third this summer. My OB has said he would be not recommend doing more than 5, but if I got pregnant a 6th time he would rather I come to him than someone else. It's not going to come to that.
