Michelle Bachmann Becomes Swiss Citizen

I was sure this had to be a joke and I'm still not convinced that Politico isn't pulling our leg, but according to this:

Michelle and Marcus Bachmann both applied for and received Swiss citizenship for which they were eligible due to Marcus' Swiss heritage.

Keep in mind that Michelle Bachmann made a big issue out of Obama's birth certificate. If she runs for office again, her opponents should demand her passport.

This on the same day that Mitt Romney claimed credit for the auto bailout. We are clearly living in Absurdistan.

Romney is right that the 2009 bankruptcy reorganizations at GM and Chrysler played a major role in the turnarounds at those automakers. It allowed them to shed billions in debt, along with plants, workers, brands and dealerships they could no longer afford.
And he's correct that the automakers and the United Auto Workers union were initially opposed to the bankruptcy process, uncertain that the companies would survive what they expected could be months if not years in bankruptcy court.

Are you seriously go to argue that Romney deserves credit for saving the auto industry? If so, you are taking some awful good drugs.

Romney opposed all the auto bailouts implemented by Bush and Obama. Without those bailouts, the companies would not have survived long enough for the managed bankruptcy. That is all made clear in the article to which you linked. Yes, Romney supported the type of bankruptcy with which he became acquainted at Bain Capital: strip the companies of their remaining assets and then close them down. He did not support the path taken by President Obama which involved repeated government investment allowing the companies to survive until a managed bankruptcy could put them in a position to return to strength -- which they have.

Romney is a shameless liar. The fact that you would actually support his lying is very discouraging.

The US does not allow any American to take on another county's citizenship later in life unless it was by birthright. You are forfeiting your American citizenship if you do this!!!

That is definitely not true. You can take additional citizenship as long as you do not intend to give up US citizenship.

A U.S. citizen may acquire foreign citizenship by marriage, or a person naturalized as a U.S. citizen may not lose the citizenship of the country of birth.U.S. law does not mention dual nationality or require a person to choose one citizenship or another. Also, a person who is automatically granted another citizenship does not risk losing U.S. citizenship. However, a person who acquires a foreign citizenship by applying for it may lose U.S. citizenship. In order to lose U.S. citizenship, the law requires that the person must apply for the foreign citizenship voluntarily, by free choice, and with the intention to give up U.S. citizenship.

You can also lose your citizenship for other reasons. Meir Kahane was stripped of his US citizenship for the stated reason that he was serving in the Israeli Knesset. He claimed it wasn't his intention to give up US citizenship.
