I don't understand what the big deal is (can't she have dual citizenship?)? My DH and I plan to obtain an EU passport through Italy. Why wouldn't someone get one if they can? You never know what the future holds - maybe in our retirement we might want to live in Italy or England for a bit, maybe work part-time, who knows. Options are always a good thing.

Swiss citizens are required by law to purchase health insurance, which BTW pays for birth controlo

I'm the PP. So what? Do you even find it tolerable that she should have dual citizenship while serving in Congress and having a vote on foreign policy issues? For instance, let 's say the issue came up to a vote of whether to penalize Swiss banks that refuse to reveal the identity of Americans with foreign accounts who may be evading tax laws...
