only to end up sitting on a little chair in an undisclosed location on a grainy video begging the POTUS to agree to terrorists' demands?
Certain groups need to stay out of there, dammit. |
Brilliant. Blame the victim. |
Yes! The solution is so obvious! Just don't let "certain groups" go where they shouldn't go.
|
Like Americans entering North Korea, right?
I don't know why he went to Pakistan, but I agree that he shouldn't have gone. It's not the victim's fault entirely, but it's just poor risk management. (Sorta like those hikers near Iran and got jailed for spying. Yeah it was a farce, but why the heck did you even go near the border?) |
I was just saying to a friend of mine the other day - why let Christians go to Isreal - or blacks to the South...or Republican go anywhere....
Or stupid peole like OP on the Internet. |
I wonder if it was my ex. . . |
The man is local. Maybe his family reads this site, I don't know. But unless you can say
something supportive, give it a rest. Please. |
Why would anyone go to work in a place where you need body guards? |
I have a "Jewish" last name, as my husband is Jewish. After we were married, I was considering some travel to the Middle East and feared that perhaps I shouldn't have changed my name because of this. I did a LOT of research, the upshot of which is that many people in other countries, especially the Middle East, don't know what a "Jewish" last name is.
That said, apparently if you have been to Israel and are planning on traveling in the middle east, you should "lose" your passport with the stamps from Israel and start your travels with a fresh one. Seriously, blaming someone's last name on their troubles is ridiculous. |
Ok, I will let every Cohen, Stein, etc. know that nobody will know they are jewish if they go to the middle east or Pakistan (are you for real?) |
but all that said, this was not the place for him. yes, there are places that blacks, gays, christians, muslims, and jews should not go, or try to avoid. no one can have everything. let the politicians work out the problems. keep you butt safe. |
11:40 here -
do you really think checking a name on a drivers license or passport is always necessary to ascertain that somebody might be jewish? again, seriously? |
many people work in the U.S. With body guards. High ranking military officials have body guards to protect them from people who want the information they are privy to. As do higher ups with companies such as Accenture for the same reason. As a matter of fact, I saw the mayor of DC over the weekend, and he had a body guard with him. I'm going to assume it was due to the crazies and not the information he is in possession of, but what do I know? Oh, thats right, more than you. |
Has anyone even read anything about this before commenting? The Man had been in Pakistan for 7 years before he was kidnapped. He was kidnapped because he is a country director with an international development company...someone higher up in the chain of command with an organization with ties to USAID.
If he was kidnapped after 7 years in country because of his religious beliefs, how do you explain a man named Khalil from the UK who was also kidnapped in Pakistan?. |
David Cohen went to Iraq recently and did just fine... |
