I just made a new salad and I used dark meat chicken (thighs) instead of my normal chicken breast because it's what I had around. I think it tastes a little off, but I think it may just be cause I'm used to the mildness of white meat. The dark meat tastes just a little bit, I don't know, egg-y or something. It was still fine according to the sell-by date and didn't smell strange uncooked or feel slimy or anything.
Do you think dark meat just has a different taste, or do you think it's spoiled? Any way to tell for sure? |
It's not as dry as the white meat, but it shouldn't taste "off" or "eggy." I would never eat chicken that seemed in any way odd tasting. |
| Of course dark meat tastes different. I'm sure it was fine if it didn't smell bad raw |

Bad chicken smells sour, like sweat, when it first starts to go. Then it just smells BAD.
Either way, if it was fully cooked it won't harm you. |
|
It does taste different.

When in doubt, don't eat it doh-doh........If I open meat or anything for that matter and it smells bad, I take it back to the grocery store. |
