VHSL Boys 2024 Season (Discussion and Scores)

My take on the Madison/battlefield game.

BF: strong goalie play and aggressive defense. Good clears and opportunistic in transition. They were a complete team last night.

JMHS: for the first three quarters madison stunk up the joint. Terrible goalie play, unorganized defense, poor shooting and failed clears. Madison had all the markings of a team that was unready.

Madison showed in the 4th Quarter that they were the better team. I have no doubt if there was a fifth quarter Madison would have won. However, terrible first half performance put them in a hole that only battlefield mistakes could have gotten them out of. And Battlefield did not make mistakes last night.

It's good that Robinson will win States this year. Madison didn't need 3 in a row.

That's definitely a take, anyway. One team plays better for 3 quarters, the other for 1 and loses, and the latter showed they were the better team?

Madison has had a great run, and probably has more in store for the future.

Maybe focus on Robo instead of complaining about a write up of last night’s game?

Pretty surprised by last night's Madison/BF result. Maybe that month off in middle of season kept BF fresh. Sounds like Madison not getting on track early while BF hit the ground running and held on for strong win. Congrats to them.

Not a bad write up, BUT I would say that Battlefield let them back in the game. This would have been a 4 goal win, if not for a 2 min non releasable on the BF starting goalie. (No slight to the G, as he plays fantastic)
If Madison does not have the man up and NR- they may not get two goals there and we are talking about a 4pt win. I would not say they showed they are a better team, as you are supposed to score with man up and score multiple with 2min NR. I would say they took advantage of a situation and capitalized on it.

I have no need to have to focus on Robo. Or affiliations.

What time is the game and anyone know if it'll be getting a broadcast level airing for the final vs the NFHS motion sensors?

What was penalty (just curious), not trying to pile on at all but more curious if it was in crease or slashing outside crease (NRs on goalies not that frequent..)?

Agree here. Battlefield was the better team by far. Madison was undersized and not good defensively. Their goalie was really bad in comparison to Battlefield's great goalie and defensive play. They man handled the small Madison squad. Refs even had some poor calls that allowed Madison to come back on some goals. Overall the takeaway was that Battlefield was the better team, both from the player standpoint but also coaching.

Believe it was an unsportsmanlike call but not entirely sure.

Yeah, what a dumb penalty to take. Totally unnecessary and let Madison right back into the game—and nearly cost them the game. Can’t pull that with Robo!

I am the OP with that post. Was watching on stream so didn't hear the exact call but the ref arm signal was Unsportsmanlike- based on the play that happened near/in crease at GLE- I assumed that something was said to the official, or, opponent as taunting. There was some sticks flying around, but they did not signal hit to the head or slashing or illegal body check etc.

It was a one minute slash call on the goalie and then he dropped a F-bomb which led to a 1 minute NR. It was two penalties, definitely a weak slash call, but you can’t get the unsportsmanlike after it. (BHS parent who talked with the goalie)
