We are having my son baptized in a month and will be having lunch at our house after the baptism with close family and friends, maybe 30 people total. What should I serve for lunch? I like to cook, and I need some recommendations that won't require a lot of work on the day of the service. I will be pretty busy as family will be staying with us that weekend, and I have another little one at home too. Or, does anyone have a recommendation for a caterer that would do a small job like this?
Thanks in advance. |
| Roast beef? Maybe you can put out rolls so people can make sandwiches with it if they want. |
| Curried chicken salad, rolls, fruit salad, three-bean salad, cookies. I assume it will be warm by then, and this is all do-ahead. |
| Crock pots are you friend. I would make a soup and a pulled beef or pork or chicken. Cook them the day or evening before and put them into the crock pot on low in the morning. I would add a platter of lunch meats and some cold salads that you could make the night before and put on/in the serving plates/bowls ready to go with plastic wrap. Then, when you get home, just pull the cold items out of the fridge. You can have a platter of breads and/or rolls also covered with plastic that you put out in the morning before going. So you come home, unwrap the bread, take the cold plates out of the fridge and stir the hot items. Lunch is served in under 5 minutes. |
| I order pizza and wings. Done! |

spiral ham, biscuits or croissants, cheese slices, mustards
green salad or crudites & dips fruit salad mac & cheese (big frozen tray of it) cookies or brownies |

OP here. I like the spiral ham idea. It looks like I can order one online, delivered to my doorstep. Does anyone have a favorite to recommend?
Thanks again. |
| Honeybaked is always good. |
Yes! This sounds perfect. Are you a caterer? |
