Frozen strawberries - cook before purée ?

I have a bag of frozen strawberries I want to purée and mix into yogurt for my lo. Should I steam them first or just purée them raw?

If you blend them frozen you'll get something that's the consistency of a slurpee. Which isn't bad, but it'll give off a lot of water as the slush melts.

I'd defrost gradually in the bag or quickly in the microwave, drain and then puree. It's not a question of raw vs. cooked, it's a question of frozen vs. unfrozen.
