Are stainless appliances really still in?

Anonymous
I have to replace a fridge and am wondering if it's worth it to get stainless.

Also, my stove and dw will still be white until I replace them. WIll that look weird? Kitchen cabinets are white so they blend in with those.

Home Depot grade stainless is out...the "in" look is one of two things: matching your decor (so if everything is white, stick with white), or going with high-end style appliances, which tend to be stainless. These would include Miehle, Bosch, Wolf, or really almost anything that Bray & Scarf sells.

Or you could go with option 3, whatever works for you. And if you like stainless and don't mind everything not matching for a few years, get whatever floats your boat. Personally, I have all black appliances because I feel that they disappear into the kitchen better. I don't have a $10,000 6 burner oven, so I let the food and company be the star of my show instead of the appliances.

Does the modern stainless have smudge-proofing? Argh, I hated that on my old house.

Keep it all white. It's classic.

i just got a new kitchen with all stainless and i don't have any more issues with keeping my appliances look clean than when they were white.

i do think stainless ages better than white. otherwise agree with previous posters.

well, thank goodness the shipping is free - if there were shipping, I wouldn't consider it

Holy crap, I guess people have money to blow, huh?

I replaced white appliances with stainless last year. They are midrange, nothing fancy. The stove I wanted came in stainless, so went with stainless for the others. Dunno if they are stylish or not, but I think they are easier to keep clean. They do smudge, but grime doesn't get incrusted into them like it did with my white appliances, so overall they look nicer and cleaner.

If you want to avoid stains, go with stainless.

Otherwise, feel free to get whatever you'd like. Unless you're trying to sell, then buy whatever you think the buyers would want.

I don't think stainless plus white (temporarily) would look as weird as what I've got going in my kitchen right now. The previous owners renovated and the black dishwasher and black stove go well with the rest of the kitchen, but the white fridge clashes with everything and drives me crazy. I can't rationalize replacing a perfectly good fridge, but I won't be super-sad when it finally breaks down.

YES it is still in., people forget that stainless is scratch resistant, self healing, single material and doesn't have the wear issues of painted appliances.

Stainless is still "in" in the sense that you can't argue it's a current look that no one will really bat an eye at.

Avacado appliances and countertops are back!

I still get to have cable and Internet, right?

(OK, I was only able to catch the first episode of MTV's 70s House.)
