What sort of top to wear with the new clingy/stretchy mini skirts?

Anonymous
As a short petite girl, I love me a mini skirt! I love the new ones I keep seeing, that are basically pull on stretchy pieces of fabric, like this: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/bcbgmaxazria-colorblock-bandage-skirt/3290373?origin=category&resultback=1047

What sort of top would look good?

Would you really pay $148 for that tube of fabric?

Either way, the general rule is if you are going more revealing on bottom, go less revealing on top. Stick with a fitted top with sleeves and a not-too-low neckline.

Unless you are planning to wear this at a beach, I would seriously rethink it as a fashion choice. I am also a short, petite person who could "get away" with this look in the sense that it wouldn't be inappropriately short or show things I am trying to hide. But it still doesn't mean that I "should" wear it.

If you are over the age of 21, this is not for you anymore.

Parent of a high schooler here - I thought those skirts were invented for my daughter and I to have something to fight about in the morning. I didn't realize adults wore them too....

agree. older than 21? don't wear it.

just don't. Find a nice pencil skirt in the right length for you. Halogen makes them in petite sizes.

I take it you don't remember the 80s?

It look does not look comfortable and probable cannot sit or walk normal with that on. It should be called "bondage skirt".

This! I had a couple of these. I was under 21.

I also had "multiples" in the 80's and 90's. I was under 18 and they were super cute! However, anything that can be a skirt, tube top or belt should not be worn by anyone in 2012.

I hope you are teenager. If not you are going to look like you are desperately trying to convince everyone you are young and hip. It won't work.

Please do not wear these types of skirts unless you are still in college. Even with A rocking body, there are so many other ways to show it off.

A bandage skirt is perfectly appropriate for non 20 somethings. Some of these old biddies here make me laugh.

The key is the top. The best look is a flowy shirt over it, much like we do with leggings, but not as long.

As with all minis, the paired top should be more sedate; if you show a lot of leg, show less cleavage, and vice versa.

You could also pair with a fitted, tucked in dressy tank.

I think I have seen you walking around town. I laugh. No, no -- it really doesn't look good on you or really anyone else (the leggings are bad too).
