Only 2 eggs fertilized, give me hope!

Anonymous
Well, the subject sums it up. Haven't gotten much feedback from my RE as to why, but only had about 7 follicles with 5 eggs retrieved. Only 2 fertilized with ICSI and were dividing normally on day 1 post ER. Anyone still get BFP in this situation? I'm 34 (as is DH) and only diagnosis so far is MF (low morph and motility). Not feeling optimistic at all, but DH keeps saying it only takes one. We had originally planned only to transfer one, but are wondering if we should reassess assuming they both make it.

I can't give you hope (yet?) but I can keep you company. We ICSI-d 4 eggs and only 2 fertilized (initially, we were told only 1 had fertilized). We transferred both on Friday at 2 days post retrieval and I'm now just waiting. Our diagnosis was the same and I was really hoping our issues would be resolved with IVF, so it was very tough news to take. FWIW, I am glad that we transferred both asap as it gives me peace of mind that we have given them the best chance we can.

Good luck to you!

Best of luck. Have never been there but I still want to wish you the best possible outcome.

Op_ how many eggs were mature? My collegue had 2 , Put in 2, and is pregnant with 1!

Op- does doc want to wait to day 3 or 5? At Columbia they do both.

I only had 5 matured egg retrieved.
Only one fertilized.
But, that single fertilized egg implanted!
Now pregnant with singleton. Good luck!
(I was 37, ICSI due to MF)

Are you doing a 3or 5day transfer?

My brother had that. Now he has twins!

I'd do 3 day transfer with both embryos.

Definitely do a 3 day transfer

I had 5 mature 3 fertilized and two made it to five day transfer. My doc tried to convince me to do sET. We did 2 and ended up with a singleton. So the reality is that it only takes one (I was skeptical when I heard this as well).

Out of 6, only 2 fertilized, so they transferred them both at day 2. One healthy baby. I think putting them back as soon as possible makes the most sense, as long as you're ok with the idea of twins.

2151- out of 6, we're they all mature?

I just want to chime in and say that you're not alone! We had 7-8 follicles, only 4 eggs retrieved and fertilized and only 2 developed normally. I really wanted to wait to blast stage and transfer 1, but with only 2 eggs, I didn't really have that option: we transferred 2 on day 3, both which were still developing normally (5 cell and 7 cell). I keep telling myself what your husband is telling you: you only need one! (Especially at your age, which I am as well.) My beta is Saturday and this wait is killing me like no one before.

So, to sum up, good luck, I am sure other ladies will chime in and let us know their success.
