WHat do you think about this house in Herndon?

Seems like a good price and there is apparently a neighborhood pool, too. I'm just learning about the area, though.

I think it looks nice. Honestly, I don't get why people dislike Herndon (or Reston).

We looked in Fox Mill - our daughter's first daycare provider lived there. It is a good family friendly neighborhood.

It looks great- we briefly looked in Herndon before deciding it was just too far given our commutes, but you can get so much more for your money.

Sidewalks!!
A real plus

That neighborhood is nice! I got lost there on the way to my dr's office last month. Go for it!

No one lives in Herndon unless they can't afford to live anywhere else. Horrible schools and ethnic issues.

Looks nice, smallish though. The Dutch colonial facade is a turnoff to some buyers.

you're a moron. Fox Mill, Crossfield, Floris and Oak Hill ES's all have Herndon addresses and great reputations. I probably wouldn't pick Herndon if I were commuting to downtown every single day, but many people who live in Herndon area work in Reston, Tysons, Vienna, Fairfax, Sterling and Ashburn.

I shouldn't even bother responding to such nonsense, but I will anyway.

There are PARTS of Herndon largely populated by lower-income Hispanic immigrants. This particular house is nowhere near the those areas and is zoned for Fox Mill Elementary School, a very good school with a tiny (4 percent) FARMS population. South Lakes High School is a middle-of-the-road Fairfax County school--hardly "horrible."

I would move to Fox Mill/Bradley Acres in a second if I could, but the commute would be too long for my husband.

Regarding that house: it's very nicely updated, but the price may be a little high for the area. I say this both because it's still on the market after more than six weeks, and because I was tracking Herndon real estate pretty closely for a while, and this just "feels" too high.

There's better info about the house on this site:

There's also a review of the neighborhood.

agreed. this does seem a little high for that area. we looked there as well, although in a slightly lower price range (low-mid 400s).

Some other areas to consider in a similar price range and closeby - areas that zone to Oak Hill ES, Lees Corner ES and Navy ES. Many of these communities have a good neighborhood feel and neighborhood pools. Franklin Farm has 2 or 3(?) that you have access to as part of your HOA.
