It always bugged me that my mom literally screamed when she sneezed. Now that I'm in my 40s I do it too! Involuntarily, of course. They are just so loud, uncontrollable, and embarrassing. They freak everyone out but I cannot be quieter. It's been especially bad during this allergy season, and they usually come three in a row.
Is there a way I can stop this? Does anyone else scream while sneezing or am I alone in this "affliction"? |
sorry - no I don't. I sneeze often and generally several in a row but I find it pretty easy to control the volume. |
My husband shouts. I hate it!
|
My husband too. Good to know it is involuntary, OP. I always suspected that he is showing off just a tad (he leans that direction in many things) but I should be more charitable! |
My mother does. She claims it's because of childbirth and otherwise she would wet her pants. |
I almost cry because it is so painful but I don't scream. Assume it is from the c-sections. |
My dad does this and always scares the crap out of me. I don't know why it is so loud! |
Full of shit. You can control it. I can. It's so rude. |
I WANT to control it. I stated that's it's obnoxious and that it bothers others. It just comes on so suddenly and then it's too late. Fortunately I usually have a Kleenex it my pocket b/c I'm so allergic. You, on the other hand... is your rudeness learned or congenital? |
Oops, just plain "that" not "that's" |
Ok not sure what the reason is but I used to have a pretty normal sneeze. Now it is loud and I have learned not to engage my vocal chords. |
I think a person can learn to control that. |
DH does. He does try to control it when we are out but it is difficult. |
I'm questioning the "involuntary" thing. seems like a histrionic ploy for attention |
All sneezes are involuntary. ![]() |
